I do not understand the Skylar hate. Do you realize how dumb the show would be without her? Anna Gunn has been FANTASTIC this season - the fear seeps out of her in every scene. She's probably the single most hated character in the show, and all she's done was try to keep her family safe. I think she's a great character.

Couple of fun things to note from this episode:

The man who once refused to continue cooking until a single fly was removed from the equation is now cooking in houses infested with pests. The pointed shot of the cockroach seems like foreshadowing to bugs ruining a batch or some such.

There sure are a lot of people out there who could talk now. Can Mike really handle all of them?

Was breaking with with Andrea the end of the Brock plot line, or is that going to come back?

While I agree she is necessary, and Anna Gunn is doing a good job with the character, the hate, for me at least, stems from the way she treated Walt in the earlier seasons, what with the fucking ted, forcing him to move out, treating him like shit etc. etc. Season 4 skyler was good. She didn't act irrationally, and wanted to help the family (even if to protect herself).

The best scene for me this episode were when they were watching Scarface. That was brilliant.

I think Jesse finally sees that Mike is right about Walt being a time-bomb at the end of this episode. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

Don't think you can kill Skylar off so soon. But you gotta think that the mid-season finale has to be about her.

I'm gonna go with her demanding Walt to leave/break down again but this time Walt refuses and then it gets physical, and slaps dat bitch real hard. Continued fear, booya.

I like how this line makes Gus seem even more badass too.

I used to hate Skylar too, but the last season she improved a lot and in this season she fully understands what Walt is capable of and is terrified of him (and she does a great job showing it). Also, who else heard Seaside Hill from Sonic in that scene with Jesse, Amber and Brock?

I thought the concept of using bug-bombed houses was pretty farfetched and looney. I had so much hope during that commercial break that Walt had a brilliant plan for where to cook, but alas, I was mistaken. It just seems like a huge pain in the ass to set up and tear down every time. But then I thought about it some more and it's a pretty ingenious idea, seeing as Walt knows how smart Hank is. Any conventional site would be located pretty quickly after the laundromat findings. Although I'm still a bit apprehensive...I've literally never seen one of those tents over a house in real life, so I was kinda under the assumptions that bug-bombings don't happen that often, let alone 3-4 houses a week (as stated by Sal) in a thirty mile radius.

Edit: Also, just came to a slight realization. I don't think we'll ever find out what happens after the season 5 premiere jump-forward. I think that's going to be the last scene, time-wise line for the series. We'll know all the events leading up to that point and fully understand the context of him buying the gun, being from NH, no Wedding Ring etc., but we won't know what happens next. Just my thoughts.

The core issue goes back to what she said last season I think, with the car, and how she's "always the bitch mom" or whatever. Morally she is (affair aside) in the right, but since the show is about Walt, it comes across as OMG WHAT A BITCH YO.

I actually like skylar's character for what it is. Even when shes being a bitch it's not like it's unfounded for someone who's been put in the situation she has.

Only time I really hated Skylar was early in the show when she didn't seem very patient with the fact that Walt had cancer and was acting strange because of it. Smoking while pregnant and fucking Ted were both without excuse also, but at this point you can sympathize with most of her actions.

I think it showed Jesse's maturity. Walt talking to him about telling Andrea everything almost came off as threat, with Jesse insisting repeatedly he hadn't told her anything. Jesse cares about Andrea and Brock enough to not want them involved.

Right but the fact they are even in that situation is because of Walt. He got in too deep. It's understandable for Skylar to be distressed that Walt even put them in that situation.
