Winter is coming.
Winter is coming.
semantics, the point is it could be out as early as January if it follows Darksiders' precedent.
winter is dec/jan/feb lol
lol at that character art. As usual, PA nails it:

I've never laughed at one of his comics, and that one... nope, still nothing.
I consistently laugh at their comics, and that one... yep, completely spot-on.
Joe Madureira continues to make the worst character design on the planet. I just hope this installment is a little more fun than the last to keep me overlooking the fact that my eyes are being offended at every attempt at serious dialog will probably make me laugh.
If you don't like it then get the fuck out of the thread. Your next OMG THIS GAME HURTS MY EYES shit will be treated as trolling.
Wow, that's some mod boo-hoo if I ever saw it. Yes, disregard me previously talking about the loot system and potential shift in gameplay because of it and just get all 'u mad' about someone agreeing with a relevant, posted Penny Arcade comic about how fucking over-the-top Joe Mad's shit can be. I guess this is just a thread for getting boners over skulls, scythes, and deep voices, and not for any criticism. If only mods "protected" every thread instead of just something they are personally attached to.
That aside...
What was the alleged "hint" at co-op for the sequel? It's not seeming likely just because of how that would have to be written into the story and emphasized from the get-go, especially in the character art/trailer. This just looks like the same exact style as the first with a different main. Which was my previous point. I hope they at least stepped it up to make it at least a little bit different from a hugeshoulderpads/littlehead/bigfeet Zelda.
Wah the character design is over-the-top with the death symbolism. Like it's some fucking secret who he is? He's the fucking personification of Death, crying about his character design making that really obvious is like criticizing a Fire Elemental's design for having too much fire.
Well, all that aside, I don't want this to turn into an argument over the art style. It's just something that actually deters me from the game a little bit as it is slapstick while simultaneously taking itself incredibly serious. (I remember chuckling after just about every line of dialog out of War's mouth.) I want to know if the game itself has been improved upon enough for me to care about the franchise again instead of playing the same game again.
Was it just me, because I found very little incentive to go back and 100% anything after beating Darksiders (which wasn't long enough in the first place). Leveling up weapons and spending shitloads of souls on abilities felt entirely monotonous to go back and complete since you could beat the game without even doing so. I just don't remember any replay value being there unless you cared about trophies/achievements. I hope this changes. It might be a long-shot, but I am really hoping for more of a variety, like Castlevania's loot/weapon system. (I don't know how else things would drop "loot" in an exploration/adventure/platforming/hack&slash game). Playing with just scythes all day because you're Death, could get boring, with or without all of the flashy purple effects. Hopefully it varies more than, scythes/big hammer/sword/hand-to-hand/whatever other typical weapon class.
Nothing wrong with not liking the art style, it's a legitimate point. But going "it is an offense to my eyes" "enjoy the game blind" is some trolling bullshit.
Pretty irrelevant. As I mentioned, I'm not really a person who cares at all about their PSN/Steam/XBL trophies. "Enjoying" monotonous MMORPG activities is a whole different story since there's a functional end-purpose for it. I could only imagine 100%'ing a game that I was really fucking enthralled with (perhaps my age is showing), like Ocarina of Time, Symphony of the Night, or Final Fantasy XI way back in the day. Darksiders was one of those "Hmm, it was actually pretty fun, but not amazing" games for me that while keeping me playing all the way through without shelving it, it didn't warrant going back to ride a horse around a graveyard trying to rack up hundreds of kills to simply make a weapon stronger than it never needed to be for any existing content. I would be surprised if I was the only one around that liked the game, but didn't love it and hopes they improve upon its existing framework.
You would probably do well to not get so bent out of shape when someone expresses their distaste for something you like while joking/exaggerating about it "offending their eyes." I'm not sure how you get by reading these boards. In all honesty, I completely despise Joe Madureira/Todd McFarlane style environment/character design and it significantly reduces my overall opinion of the game. Call me an artfag, whatever, it's completely relevant and I'm saying that the gameplay itself needs to get better for me to overlook the melodramatic VA and the slapstick visuals that take somehow themselves way too seriously... AGAIN.
With specifically graphic novel artists in mind, I would love to see someone like Mark Mignola on a project like this. I probably would have 100%'d it.
I'm just saying chill with the exaggerated shit before you get infracted for it. Doesn't matter what game it is, you go in the thread acting like an douche, you'll get an infraction. If you can't recognize the distinction between presenting a valid point, and going hurr durr dis gaem bad, then I'm sorry.
Or you know, if you dont like something and there seems to be alot here you dont like, why bother posting in that thread?
