Vigil: Darksiders 3 depends on Darksiders 2 sales, could be smaller in scope
Haydn Dalton, lead designer on Darksiders 2 at developer Vigil Games, has some interesting ideas for Darksiders 3 – if THQ decides to greenlight a sequel. If Darksiders 2 is successful, Dalton told VideoGamer, it's unlikely THQ would have Vigil shift development to another franchise.
Specifically, if Darksiders 2 manages to sell "4 or 5 million units," he said, THQ president Jason Rubin would likely want a sequel, though he might expect Vigil to "reduce the scope so that we can make it even higher polished." Doing so would give the game more focus, said Dalton.
Building a smaller open world with more detail isn't necessarily a bad thing – it worked wonders in Rocksteady's Batman games. A smaller world certainly wouldn't hurt THQ's unstable bottom line. It's also worth noting that 4 million units of any game is no small feat. To put things in perspective, Saints Row: The Third, one of THQ's most successful games, managed to ship 4.25 million units in roughly seven months.
Darksiders 2 launches August 14.
Preview event. I think dude just messed his pants.

As we get closer to the launch of Darksiders II, we will be revealing a few special features within the game here on Darksiders.com. Today we would like to introduce the functionality of the Tome system.
The Tomes are Darksiders II in-game emailing system. You can send your friends messages, and also attach up to 4 pieces of armor or weapons to each mail to trade or share items. When you attach an item to a message, it’s removed from your game and delivered to theirs.

The Tome system is also how you retrieve pre-order items and other loot awarded with in-game codes, as well as how you’re alerted to special areas now being accessible to you within Darksiders II.

http://www.darksiders.com/blog-post/...ing-darksidersWith Darksiders II just around the corner we wanted to reward our loyal community who has supported Vigil Games and THQ since the day Darksiders was announced. So today we would like to announce 2 awesome in-game unlocks within Darksiders II for our community who have completed or played Darksiders.
Players who played the first Darksiders will unlock the Pauldron of the Horsemen in Darksiders II. This level 5 legendary armor piece boosts all Death’s stats as well as his critical damage. Gamers who have finished the game on any difficulty will also earn a level 1 legendary scythe called the Chaos Fang which will boost Death’s damage and critical damage.
The in-game item unlocks are based on Achievements you have unlocked. So if you haven’t completed Darksiders you might want to pull your disk out or download it directly from Xbox Live, PSN or on Steam to get ready for Darksiders II.
