I will keep updating this as I go along but it's been...
Too long, since I built my last PC. The one I am running now is a Core2Duo and 2 Gigs of Ram(DD2) and I feel it's laughable and terrible. It runs alright but I'd really like to upgrade as this one sometimes has problems and I just feel it's outdated now anyway.
The first PC I build had an AMD
This one has Intel.
I think I am still sold on Intel, but I have not read recent reviews on how AMD is doing with their processors. I will eventually, but I figured I'd come to BG first to ask for advice.
I'm busy all weekend, so I'll probably get around to actually looking more into on Monday, but hey if you wanna do half the work for me to get started, I'd appreciate it.![]()
My question is basically:
AMD or Intel for processor and why.
I7 was the last "best" processor I heard about and even that was a bit ago. I have no idea where it stands now.
Side notes that you may ask: The computer will be mostly used for PC gaming, but I will be putting some video editing software on here and trying to get back into it for some side-projects I'd like to start.
Also, I tend to have 329482390845302 different windows open at once and I would like something that handles that a bit better than the current machine.
Things I want to keep from existing machine:
750W power supply
2TB HD's
Things I want to replace:
CPU
RAM (DD2 2x 1gig)
Video Card
Motherboard
I've never actually bought a sound card, btw. Are they recommended? I'm not a big music person so it never bothered me, but knowing that I may be doing some video editing and what not I am thinking I should look into it. And a sound system. I have a logitech headset that I am in love with. :/
Thanks BG for any help that you may give.
