However, while you think you are simply arguing for the child to get make the scary decision 18 years later, you are actually removing a decision from the parents to help assimilate (sounds bad) their child the best they can into modern society (which ends up being crucial during the younger school years regarding who's weird and who is normal). Why is that a horrible thing to do to a child? Why should we make a huge stink out of a procedure that makes little to no negative impact on anyone's life?

I can't give a clear cut answer because obviously I have never been in this situation (outside the midly interested part), but ya if some guy I'm midly interested in is uncut = friends zone. If I fell madly in love with one, I could probably get over it, but it is a situation where I'd have to "get over it".

So I guess for me it wouldn't have stood in the way of true love, but a mild interest, definitely.
