Go right ahead, but you might as well pre-emptively prepackage your ass for me anyway.
The games controls could be simplified and made more intuitive by add more context sensitivity. It is fantastic that the game gives you quite a few powers to mess with, but at the end of the day, you pick one you like and forget about the rest. There is a distinct lack of reward for a lot of the powers. They are great visually at first, lackluster as soon as you leave the sewers you got them in. I'm playing a game about a guy that uses electricity as his powers and I am relegated to using everything just like a gun. Hand to hand combat in the game is an afterthought, and useless. The enemies all use guns and have fantastic accuracy, why bother moving in to fist fight, especially with the lack of a lock on feature. Why include it at all then?
Fix?
Make the face buttons context sensitive on lock-on, giving you less convoluted access to you powers and increasing the situations where you actually want to use them.
The premise of the game is cool, and it was almost fun just being a superhero in a big city for a while. The novelty wears off, and then you're left with pretty dull game mechanics.
The morality was built up in the marketing process and does not quite deliver, but look at the story. What is the game itself trying to accomplish? It's trying to say something about the ends of that morality NOT the process. You are either a hero and lauded with praise and admiration or an infamous villain who is feared. It's about extremes and not moral ambiguity or neutrality, which is boring. Speaking of boring. The characters range from severely pallid to really annoying. Zeke being the main culprit here, followed by Cole's woman then the fbi agent.
As a 'sandbox' infamous suffers the flaw of damn near every sandbox ever made. A fantastic city, in which nothing happens except in cutscenes. For a game that starts of with a bang, literally, it fails at a lot of exposition. Nothing worthwhile happens for the first 4 hours of gameplay. You are instead pointed here and there on the overworld. The entire game is essentially one big fetch quest. While most games fall into this, infamous really fails at hiding this, and people that pick up on it give up on the game rather quickly. Do one or two quests, go into the sewer. Do one or two quests, go into the sewer. Ad infinitum.
The game gives you an upgrade system for your powers, but it ends up falling lat because none of the upgrades are gratifying. No real visible changes to powers as you upgrade them. I honestly found myself forgetting to upgrade.
There is a severe lack of variance in enemy types. For a game this 'fantastic'. You've got skinny shooting guys. Fat shooting guys and kamikaze blow up guys. Change skins, rinse and repeat.
Getting around the city can be fun, but it is hampered by Cole's sticky fingers. He catches everything. You wanting him to catch it is not relevant to what he does. All that parkor and climbing and fences are still an imposibility. What?
I'm not sure how a game could have so much going for it but still come out the way infamous did.
I'd like to go on and not be as convoluted but I need to be up for work in 6 hours. We'll continue this whenever I feel like it.
did he really just write all that
motherfucking thesis on game controls
I'm fucking loling, He's spent what an hour playing the game and it sounds like he's already beaten it and is going from his "experience"
Still waiting for you to give me a hard sandbox game with lock on buddy.
and your reasonings is just absurd
I thought I already covered the harder game angle too so what are you looking for Raggy?
So what free game should I get other than LBP
infamous
Check out gameplay vids and decide. I owned everything they offered already, aside from infamous.
Keep in mind I probably won't play them for months, if at all. I don't play PS3; the TV it's hooked up to is almost always inaccessible.
I'm not sure that has any bearing on you choosing which game you want bud.
Thinking on it now, don't get wipeout hd. It is my favorite of all the things on the list, but you don't strike me as a racing fan and you won't really get anywhere if you don't put continuous time into the game.
Its a vidya gaem shit son
That much is true.
Y U SPEND ALL DAY SUNDAY PLAYING GARBAGE GAME AND THEN WANT TO SLAP GAMESTOP EMPLOYEE AFTER SONY GAVE YOU GAME 4 FREE?
