Random Anime Thread.

Yeah I skipped on a lot of anime over the years. Bought that and Dragounat today. And have Queen's Blade Blu-rays S1 & 2, with the recent evangelion blu raysmovies coming in Wednesday. Can just dl any of them with no problem, but I want these.

Can't wait for Queen's Blade: Rebellion starting in April.

I made the switch from CCCP to LAV + madVR (+ffdshow-tryouts for older .avi stuff) and it's fantastic.

I had issues with older codecs around the time the Fall season started (was probably sitting on 2 year old installs then), but since upgrading, I haven't had a single issue. So, dunno. I just know VLC always crashed on me regardless how recent the version was before I stopped trying.

I just took CCCP and put the LAV filters in and told it to use those. I use Haali renderer as my default, and switch to mad when I remember I'm watching 10bit. VLC is generally horrible. I'd say its only good point is that it will play really random file types when no other player will. Its internal filters are crap :<

I've noticed that I have to switch to Haali renderer when playing ogm files like my old Sailor Moon eps, and then I have to change the subs to english manually from the systray. Sucks

watching star driver, 5 episodes in and idk if it's because it's on the heels of code geass or what, but this shit is not landing. I get the appeal and the silliness and the humor, but idk if I can go any further unless like the very first line of episode 6 is something involving a "pinch"

I think the general consensus is that madVR renders more crisply. Additionally, CCCP will take 10-bit and convert it to 8-bit rather than preserving the 10-bit stream. Ignore the fact that display devices can only output 8-bit worth of data. It just means that CCCP messes with the file more than necessary, something a lot of purists dislike. Step 3 of the Coalgirls setup guide has a screenshot showing what I mean.

Star Driver is very, very weirdy paced and quite formulaic for the longest time. In fact, the only thing that kept me watching was the animation and the music. But eventually, somewhere down the line... and I'm not sure where it happened but, Star Driver became fucking awesome.

Then it ended, and I dunno wtf.

I think when Mizuno appears is when it picks up. But then you don't get Monochrome.

that's precisely it, the "here comes a new challenger" every episode with the same task as every person before them who will inevitably fail because come on did you see those heels makes it a lot less interesting. I guess I'll stick it out, there actually was a pinch reference in #6 so I'll keep my word.

No matter how I install it, cccp or no cccp, I can't bring that stuff up to check. The OSD (ctrl+J) is always grayed out.

My friend got me to start reading it. I finished the first volume thinking "this is a pretty long chapter". Didn't realize reading by volume.. It seems interesting.. I was told the anime was meh though. Don't know which one I should finish first.

Also, we have taken to calling it by it's most correct name: Patrick Star.

I didn't watch the anime, but after reading the list on wikipedia, it feel like they butchered the 2nd half of the story (there is at least 2 whole arc missing). The really weird/fucked up part start after the anime's ending.

It's not that the manga was great, the ending came out of nowhere and wasn't very satisfying, but I would read the whole story in this case.

And if you like Narutaru, check bokurano. Same author, same kind of messed up stuff, but the concept was much better (characters may not have been as interesting tho)
