Thanks for the responses on Gundam Unicorn, I guess I would be kind of lost just because of the references to people/things I wouldn't get lol. Maybe I'll watch it sometime anyway.

Honestly, the only real references you need to know are Amuro and Char fighting it out during the One Year War.
Bright Noa being the captain of almost every Gundam pilot's ship during every UC series (Gundam, Gundam Zeta, Double Zeta, Nu Gundam), and of course Bright Slap.
The Titans were a group of the Earth Federation who went a bit too far
Char and Amuro 'disappearing' during the events of Char's Counter-Attack while Axis (huge asteroid base for Zeon) falls toward earth.
Feddie vs Zeke. Never changes.
Londo Bell is the Feddie unit that pretty much handles any Zeon remnants (Sleeves)

I should have elaborated a little more in my original post; I was kind of half asleep.

I've shown him a lot of action shows, with a few comedy shows thrown in there.

One Piece/Naruto/Bleach (in that order)?

The subs for all three are horrible, but they should keep him busy for a while since they all have a ton of episodes.

He wants to wait until they're finished (lol)

Already went over that with him, he doesn't like waiting for new episodes. He's crazy, he would marathon 20 episodes a day until he caught up with the dub.

Keep in mind this guy refuses to watch subs; the only subs he's ever watched was for FMA:Brotherhood, and that's because it's his favorite show and he got mad that the dub wasn't finished at the time.

I came up with Gunbuster, Diebuster.. Serial Experiments Lain.. while writing both of these posts, going to think some more.

Hah, except for the dub part he sounds a bit like me. Let him know he can watch it to catch up, then forget about it for a year while watching other stuff, then binge watch again.

(Started one piece two days ago, up to episode ~70 now.)

Noein, Claymore, Ghost in the Shell, Moribito, Monster, Samurai Champloo, Eden of the East, XXXholic, Soul Eater, Gurren Laggan, Last Exile, Canaan, Full Metal Panic, Baccano, Blood+, among many others are all on Netflix. I'm sure he'd like some of those.

Monster was shown on syfy's anime block for a while. Was an okay dub.

Yeah, they had it back for a bit. I think they played some Gurren Lagann, Monster and Gundam 00 from what I remember. Now they just play endless re-runs of whatever their Monday night shows are

I liked watching animu on syfy because it gave me a reason not to fall asleep. I did skip 00 S2 when it aired and just watched the dub on syfy when it aired.

Honestly Scifi channel helped me get into anime, I think the first time I saw any Tenchi Muyo was the first movie on there (which to my 13 year old self was just the most awesome thing in the world). Cartoon Network picked up the slack after that, of course.

I miss MST3K on Scifi.
