It's weird that the episode I remember the most was when the lead goes into the scientist girls' lab and almost gets sexually assaulted, rofl. Dunno why they would air a harem anime on a kids network now that I think about it.

pretty sure back then during the anime boom, the network just jumped into the anime bandwagon and just licensed any random series without actually having any fucking idea what to do with it.

CCS and escaflowne being the most obvious example of this.

Yep. I can't tell you how many adult movies/series I saw as a child because networks didn't have a clue what the show was about. Not that I was complaining, I loved most of the stuff I saw.

CCS wasn't so bad for the network to grab because it was actually more of a kid's show (there was nothing really adult oriented in it anyway) but of course it's based on an elementary school girl and we can't have that on FOX Kids, no siree, the show needs to be about a nice strapping BOY! Editing to center around Shaoran was ridiculous.

Escaflowne, on the other hand...jesus christ. It's true the first few eps are fine but I mean, FOX kids was pandering to like 6-12 year olds and Escaflowne was very adult (VERY adult). Was hilarious how much they had to edit/cut and they couldn't even play most of the eps.

It's a good thing 4kids isn't still around, or else we might have seen this:

I wiki'd Escaflowne out of curiosity and it seems like a normal mecha anime to me, why is it so adult? I'm actually rather interested.

Huge spoilers. It'd be better if you watched the series yourself, since it's really good, and the surprises are worth waiting for.
But if you must know now:

Most of it revolves around Allen (the knight character) and his all in the family issues. The biggest no-no is that one of the main baddies, Dilandau, is actually Allen's little sister. She was kidnapped when very young and turned into a medical experiment by the head honcho of Zaibach (the bad guys). They turned her into a dude and set him to piloting mechs, but he has (understandably) a ton of psychological problems which show themselves quite often in the series, as he kills friend and foe alike without mercy, as if it was a game, and then freaks out over it.

Allen also screwed around with a king's wife and she had an illegitimate child, who became the heir. There was at least a full episode devoted to that plot point scattered among several eps. He then leads on at least 2 other women (one of whom is the sister of the chick he banged before).

Aside from all of that, there are several morality issues brought up in the show that are way too old for the FOX kids audience.
Lots of people die, cities burn, certain people revel in cities burning, blood blood blood, there's a love triangle or two or three (and not just implied ones but shit actually happens), it's just not a show for kids in any sense or form.

Not really "adult" adult, but I'd imagine the target audience of foxkids wouldn't exactly understand the whole theme of causality, fate, etc that was heavily used throughout the series.

Trying to burn some Anime(that I don't plan on buying) off my computer but the subs look like trash on a bunch of the newer shows, so I'm wondering why or what I need to do to make them look good.

Using ConvertXtoDVD 4 atm, should I use something else?
