Madoka dub was not nearly as terrible as i expected.

    It's a good 2/10.

Not sure if it's been posted anywhere, but the FMA movie is out with subtitles by UTW.

Finally got around to watching Death Note. Can't believe I never watched this before. T'was really good, even though I now hate some of the characters for failing. It seems the anime end is the manga end also.. but I remember hearing that it continued on in the shinigami realm. Am I just remembering some fake 4chan copypasta or something?

I think there is an epilogue chapter (1 year after), but nothing like the story being continue in the shinigami's realm.

TV series was relatively accurate, but they many explanations in the 2nd half didn't make it. The long reasoning by Light were all gone, and because of that, certain scenes seemed more forced.

    Spoiler: show
I also prefered Light's pathetic death in the manga. He fully deserved it to die crying and begging for his life.

I was more sad/angry that he let himself die because he relies on someone else to not fuck up. And also that said person fucked up. I mean it completely fits with how overconfident he was being but I would have liked to see him kill everyone lol.

It's very strange that I think it continued.. mainly because in depth this, apparently fake, memory is. I thought I remember someone telling me he ended up in the shinigami realm and was doing to "die" once per hour the same way all his victims died or something. His real final death wouldn't occur until after it went through all his victims. And then he set out to trick the shinigami king because only the shinigami king's death note could kill other shinigamis. Or something.

That or I read a copypasta story on 4chan.. or someone made some interesting fan pictures.. or I've gone crazy.

It was a gamble to rely on someone else, but you need to keep in mind he had his hand tied after L events.

It kind of make sense to give the Death Notes to somebody when you think about it. He was confident that no one could trace it back to him, and even in the case that the guy failled, he was going to get his hand back on the book.

Light's overconfidence caused his downfall, but if it wasn't for Near and Mello, he would have managed just fine. He also had many opportunities to walk out, but his arrogance and pride made him fight

Can someone please give me the lowdown on Precure? There's like half a billion series and they all seem to have different characters/plot. Some of them look fairy-tale-ish and others look more normal. I am so confused. Where does it start? Where does it end? Are all the series related to each other, or are they all separate?

I'm interested because 1. I like mahou shoujo and 2. I've heard people talk about Precure like it's the end-all be-all of the mahou shoujo genre and that it's awesome as fuck and I should watch it so....

Please tell me there's a Precure expert somewhere on the board lol

Don't really know anything about the series, but anidb.net has relation charts which can show you where it starts and ends.

Precure is like the power ranger version of mahou shoujo, it pretty much goes through "generations" and shit or something, it's not as much as the end-all-be-all as it is the longest running

Funnily enough I just started rewatching Death Note.

    Spoiler: show

I really, really loved the series but I was pretty unhappy with the ending.

It felt weird how Mikami didn't keep a torn page close for emergencies. This would've gotten the win for Light since he wouldn't have used the real death note one last time before the meeting with Near. Mikami rips five pages from the death note for Takada, so obviously he knew about torn pages working.

Even ignoring that, I also found weird how Light didn't anticipate Mikami acting on his own once Takada got captured. Light relies so much on the fact that Mikami thinks/acts the same as he does yet he doesn't consider that Mikami would try to cut loose ends (such as killing Takada).

Maybe I'm just bothered because I wanted Light to win, but it almost feels like the author just didn't want to give the series a bad ending.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I heard the author wanted to end Deathnote after L died, but the editors pushed it to keep going. And I think Light was originally supposed to win but didn't because the editors thought it would be bad for Light to win.

Again, just stuff I heard ages ago so take with a grain of salt. But I do feel the ending was unsatisfying even if understandable and justified.

There is no way Light could win, he was going to pay sooner or later the price for being a huge dick. An ending where both kill each other would have made sense tho.

no, people shit on the series because after L dies, the series just lost all kind of interesting tension and mind game that made the first half so goddamn amazing

Pretty much. I enjoyed the second half quite a bit, but it definitely was no where near as good as the first.

precisely. the second half of death note doesn't really exist to me. I don't even remember what happened really except that Near and Mello are completely uninteresting.

I don't know about in the manga, but in the anime he says something like "I specifically told you not to do anything for this exact reason." He predicted correctly, but because he trusted another person it caused his downfall.
