New 'Ghost in the Shell' TV series coming in 2026.
This is being done by Science Saru.
Hopefully it's better than the last one.
If the animation style is closer to the manga that will be interesting.

Just watched all of season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Hulu does not have season 2. Guess I’ll go… elsewhere for that. Or maybe I’ll just pick up the manga now where it left off since season 3 seems to be a very far ways off.
If you do watch season 2, I highly recommend the Blu-ray version. There are quite a few episodes (2x17 being the most) that adds some extra scenes and cleans some of the art/animation up.
Honestly, I'd recommend watching s2 in general. Some of the best animation you'll see in anime for some of the fights.
Oh, and don't forget the movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, before s2 if that wasn't already on your list. It's pretty important to the story.
I know its not technically Anime but anyone watching To be Hero X?
I am. Did so on a whim and it kinda caught me off guard.
Moonrise on Netflix fucking sucked. I’m convinced the weird 18 episode structure was probably because they blew their budget and was told to end it in the middle of production. Because the writing and pacing is just absolutely dreadful.
So many themes, ideas, and plot points that literally go nowhere and just get hand waved at the end.
Finished Jujustu Kaisen Zero and season 2. I feel like it might have been better to have watched the movie after the little 4-5 episode mini-arc of Gaito/Goji’s past before the movie, but oh well. I’ll probably go through the manga from where the anime left off then watch the spectacle of the anime when that comes out in forever from now.
I’ve tried multiple times to read the manga. But without the spectacle of gorgeous animation the story is so damn bland and generic. I’m still stuck on the very next arc where season two leaves off.
Anyone have any recommendations for some minimal (or preferably no) drama fluff from the past few seasons? Been going through it recently, and need something to switch off my brain to.
If you liked House and it fits the bill - Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte
Kinda horror, but not - DanDaDan
Ranma 1/2 Remake
Suicide Squad Isekai
Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan
There are some moments of frustration inherent to their premise, but...
- The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained by the Strongest, Becomes Invincible?
- I Parry Everything!
...have their charms in terms of OP characters just doing things. I like the first better, though, if only because there is some self-realization and it wraps with bros being bros.
Otherwise, I guess it's kind of hard for me to think of drama free things since it's rare I err toward JP comedy. I'm a big isekai slut and they're definitely not created equal in terms of story or quality of production.
- Campfire Cooking in Another World
- Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper
Both are pretty similar with an older protag getting amazon access in another world, and while they have their moments of action/drama, are a bit more lower stakes or quickly resolved. The second gets a bit more on the horny side, but I'll commend the MC for actually behaving realistically and not exploding in panic the moment a woman flirts. I guess there's the Vending Machine show as another offshoot that kinda skews toward wholesome adventuring despite the absurdity of the premise.
Don't know if you watched Solo Leveling, but it does have 2 seasons under its belt by now and has been a pretty solid adaptation as it's more the "turn your brain off and just watch things die" kinda thing. Shangirla Frontier is also good VRMMO gamer fun that some of us XI tweakers should be able to appreciate.
I'll always stan stuff like Danmachi even if the seasons vary in quality, but it's one of those few shows that can really build up to climactic battles for me. However, it is 5 seasons, can maybe play into ecchi too much, and does get dark at times. Definitely not for bad headspace moments.
I guess if you want baby's first anime Suikoden, there's As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill that has a couple seasons. I use that description because it premises of building an army and war, but the combat is pretty sanitary and saturday morning cartoony in depictions and some outcomes. It won't be for everyone, but it can stoke some feels.
An Overlord movie hit the high seas the other day, too. Didn't quite have the same spirit of the seasonal show with the focus being so much on a specific movie character, but if you want to kill a little over 2 hours with some occasionally dark battle and light political drama, it's an option.
Appreciate the recommendations. Ranma 1/2 remake and Reincarnated Aristocrat specifically have been on my radar recently. I'm ok with light drama, I'm just not in the right headspace for anything too heavy. Like... I really want to watch Frieren, but stopped after the first episode or two. A few examples of the type of shows I'm thinking of are:
Bocchi
Mashie
Ascendence of a Bookworm
DIY
Bofuri
So I guess mainly SoL, maybe a dash of Comedy/Fantasy/CGDCT would be the best way to describe it. I'd also like to check out stuff like Dangers in My Heart, and Komi, but I have a hard time getting into shows where I'm familiar with the source material. The exception to that would be the upcoming Houkago Kitaku Biyori. I got caught up with the manga yesterday, and it's just that good.
Frieren has been one of my go to picks for folks if they haven't seen it, but yeah, it's not a happy-go-lucky show even if it does have the occasional chuckle moment.
I know for me, one of my turn-offs with JP humor is them hammering it home by just screaming at the viewer. Like say a character gets hit in the nuts and then another will be like, "HE GOT HIT IN THE NUTS!" I don't know if that's a lack of faith in visual storytelling, how they think younger audiences need to be told, or whatever, but when it's like the backbone of delivery it gets old reaaaaaal quick.
