The best protag is Mika though.
I'm sorry but his fingers aren't shiny enough
Still enjoying Frieren. Sucks it's such a short season.
A surprisingly sane Gundam protagonist that I liked?
Loran from Turn-a-Gundam
I liked the Iron Blooded Orphan crew, Augus and them were fun
Bernie and Christina from 0080: Both wanting to move the conflict away from a populated area.
Amuro in Char's Counterattack: Quess wanted a father figure? I don't have time for that in the middle of a damn war.
Chan in Char's Counterattack: I'm blowing up that psycho runaway traitor girl.
Why isn't the name just Cock of the North Star?
what are our thoughts on Suletta that's the only Gundam protag i know
I still gotta watch S2 of that one so no thoughts yet
Every Gundam series is war bad, but Wing went a step further with the Char clone. Zechs not only had the mask, he also had the long lost sister, he becomes an ace like to enact a revenge agenda for his family that was betrayed only to fall into a rivalry with the protagonist that's on the other side. Then he becomes the leader for the enemy in the final showdown which features the attempt of the protagonist to stop a colony drop.

I liked Wing for exactly the reason why it was successful and I think intentionally so... and it was already mentioned in this thread. It's Sunrise's attempt at remaking the OG series but trying to capture the 90s kid audience. They were right, obviously.
OG Tomino UC Gundam has had the same writing style and mostly the same artstyle for 40+ years. New era Gundam stuff that started with G Gundam is basically just Sunrise making a mecha show but tattooing the Gundam logo on front for sales. All of the super iconic ones from that era also came out in an era where Sunrise produced a shitload of other iconic mecha shows.
Now they barely produce anything at all. Wild
Nothing "normal" anime fans watch. They do Love Live now
Is Amuro anywhere near as dramatic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2S4q581-To
I haven't finished my watching of the OG Gundam. I found it kinda interesting, because its not what I expected. It feels like Battlestar Galactica for a good bit.....I was kinda amazed White base and gundam had been flying around earth for 20 episodes before they get any backup from the federation.

It's out there, and this whole situation is HILARIOUS.
The JJK episode this week was fantastic. Way better than I thought it was going to be.
