Probably sort of obvious with the announcement of an additional episode and the increased length of the UC Project into 2014, but the probability of MSG: The Origin being animated for TV (and airing in the fall) over being an OVA is pretty much confirmed now. AGE seemingly concluding with its 3rd arc (at this time, there has been no annoucements regarding future developments in the AGE universe) also likely points to The Origin being a TV series; though most assumed it was so from the start.

Lastly regarding Unicorn; there seems to be a good possibility of the L1 Junction story being cut out (thus removing the Republic of Zeon from the story, unless they merge these forces into what Ep.6 will cover; everything preceeding the race for the Box). Fukui and the OVA staff seem to want to build upon the novel's ending, especially since they voiced a future hope to continue animating and adapting the novels and manga that illustrate the 27-year gap between Unicorn and F91; the OVA ending will perhaps better address the shorter-term fallout from UC's events (as the novel somewhat neglected to do much of this, outside of a brief "2001"-type vision of the future for Banagher, F91-Victory) and link stories like Hathaway's Flash or F(ormula)90 to the post-Unicorn world.

MSG: The Origin is an adaptation of the manga retelling of the original MSG; so if you liked the original, chances are that you'll like The Origin too.

Yasuhiko's takes on the OYW MS are kinda funky, but some of them are cool. I'm particularly fond of his takes on the Z'gok and Zaku II.

I will like it then. AGE burned me the fuck out, and Unicorn is bordering on Rebuild of Eva levels of delays.

So for a random Gundam question: Is Turn A Gundam supposed to take place in UC universe?

Turn A's timeline is all sorts of fucked, but it's supposedly years like 1k+ UC era or something. History repeats itself etc

The official answer is no; it's really just Tomino's final series*/grand tour of what he began, and a commemoration of the first 20 years of Gundam (as of 1999), etc.

Given the appearance of MS from the Universal Century, and a slew of Alternate Century series appearing in references or, infamously, very briefly on-screen (Corin Nander's apparent memories of Wing Zero; recognizing the Turn A as a Gundam etc.) it's kinda hard to pigeon hole it into -just- UC really.

That said, it hasn't really put to rest the debate about it, over a decade after it aired (it got rather weird when people tried to logic gymnastics SEED into the mix..).

*Although he has done the Zeta movies in the middle of the last decade, and that far-flung future "UC" novel last year or so (as far as I know, it just has what are essentially references to the series he was head of, like MSG, Z, ZZ, V, Turn A, etc.) he's essentially communicated as of late that he's "done" with Gundam and everyone should move on. Atleast he stated so when asked about Unicorn; but those are his thoughts, not Sunrise/Namco/Bandai's.

Small bump for some info, via HellCat over at MAHQ:

Little tidbit from London Comic Con- apparently every Beez license EXCEPT for the Gundam titles is currently being renegotiated to other UK distributors. Sunrise/Bandai have intentionally kept hold of the Gundam license.
I wonder if the same will play out in the North America market now as well.

Turn A is supposed to take place in the very far future of the UC story yes. But it's in an odd time convergence way based on the "Black History". Gundam UC, Gundam X, Gundam W, and Gundam G all time converge into the Correct Century (Turn A Gundam) Timeline, a timeline which is thousands of years into the future. So by that logic, it's the future of any and all of those four timelines.

Funny how no funnels could hit Kio's Gundam, but kicks and tail whips were wrecking shop in that episode.

I hope this isn't the closest we ever get to Crossbone being animated. Seriously.

Wasn't there a list of Gundam series wanted to be animated and Crossbone was #1? The Dark Hound looks to be a tribute to the X-2 also.

Gundam AGE also has more daddy issues than Lost. Flit pretty much ignored Aesemu and let Wolf be the father figure. Aesemu faked his death becasue of that Sid/EXA-DB incident, leaving Kio w/o a father for 13 years.

Father issues is a pretty common thing in Gundam though. Remember Amuro, and Kamille, and Uso. Domon sorta had father issues, and I guess Setsuna had more of a mother issue until he shot her, but yea, there's generally always some drama involving parents in Gundam.

I really kind of ignored Gundam AGE till last week cause I watched the first 10 episodes when they aired and they were so off putting, but picking it up and getting past the Yurin fight made it actually more enjoyable. Although now I'm expecting a giant fight that involves the AGE 1 + 2 + 3 in the end. They just better not reuse that stupid "gotta blow up the reactor" thing again, used that twice already...

Age honestly does not pick up until her death, everything before is sloooowwwwwwww. Once Flit goes apeshit after is when it gets good and Aesemu's arc. Kio has def been pretty good so far, but can't help but to look at him as uso 2.0.

I kind of miss 2nd gen Flit, he was just badass. Pushed back Desil with ship weaponry then fighting well against Zeheart in the AGE-1. Hoping Grandpa Flit has flashes of awesome like that.

Yeah, I posted the ANN story awhile ago (it's probably back on Page 4); Crossbone is the most highly desired to be animated (and by multiple accounts, this is also true for the creative and productive talent at Sunrise). Lately in these sorts of discussions, where things begin to get rather difficult is when people say "Crossbone" and actually mean "all of the stuff from F90-Crossbone: Ghost." Crossbone itself would be fine I guess (though itd end up as an OVA, unless we begin to add in the sequels through Ghost, which means a TV series); but no F90, and arguably no F91 incorporation into this probably undermines the establishing of detail and state of the post UC-100 world (versus the previous century).

There's quite abit of material from F90 and F91 (and Silhouette Formula 91) manga and novels alone that could probably fill 20-25 TV episodes each (or maybe 5-6 OVA episodes.. but Unicorn is taking so long as it is..), so I guess the issue would be if the powers that be feel confident in committing to probably close to 110-120 TV-length episodes (assuming they did it right and didn't skip things about Cosmo Babalonia, Iron Mask, or the Jupiter colonies from the novelization of F91, etc.). I don't think it'd be possible to do all of those series as OVAs (for a whole host of reasons); so a TV series that spans those decades is the only realistic option.

Hathaway's Flash is also up there; and it could happen first because it takes place roughly 9 years after Unicorn. And it's short enough (and self-contained, for the most part) that it could make for a great follow up for the Unicorn staff. Of course, it is a very sad story; but it is also somewhat confusing what from the novel is canon (some parts of Hathaway's Flash are seemingly consistently ommitted from the official UC timeline by Sunrise).

And yeah, it does look reminiscent of the X-2 (though the X-2 never had the hooks or screw whips).
