If they were going to do Crossbone, they would need to do everyone a favor by animating F90 and redoing F91 according to their original intentions (TV series, not a clusterfuck rushed movie).

The Crossbones would probably take upwards of 80 episodes (probably more if Ghost is going to be running well into next year), F90 and F91 (plus the Silhouette side-story being incorporated in) could probably turn out around 20-25 apiece. As an aside, F90 is not especially well known even in Japan, and the collapse of Cosmo Babylonia (as well as characters like Iron Mask) aren't well fleshed out at all (which probably could provide some episode padding for F91).

Also, the greater portion of F90 takes place on Mars, and even has a battle inside Olympus Mons. There's also the "new"/refitted old Zeon MS that use the Geara Doga technology. And an aged Johnny Ridden as their leader.

Finally, animating F90 and redoing F91 properly would do a much better (atleast satisfying?) job of introducing the new antagonist faction of the 2nd UC; the Jupiter colonies/Jupiter Empire. The only previous exposure to Jovians came in the form of Paptimus Scirocco. Given how different conditions are for the Jovians (it being a harsher environment with less resources and an almost Darwininan mindset, etc.), enriching their identity might be a good idea.

And cutting the Newtype monkies from Skull Heart; I seriously doubt that chapter will ever be animated.

My main concern about continuing the UC is I have no idea how popular the post CCA stuff is in Japan. I'm sure Unicorn is probably popular since it's finalizing the Feddie + Zeon conflict, but I'm not sure how receptive they were to Crossbone Gundam, or how well Victory Gundam did(I assume it did better than Gundam X at least with it's rushed ending arc). With Gundam 00 and AGE recently they've shown they can have success in different Gundam universes so I'm not sure if they might even return to UC for awhile.

And Newtype monkeys needs to happen, at least an an animated short. I want to see that 4armed Zaku.

Crossbone is regarded well; Victory as I recall fared the worst in ratings (which still technically were "good"). Gundam X suffered an incredibly unjust premature end, I still don't understand why they killed it, Wing's (infact, as I recall they were only slightly beneath Wing on average) ratings were only slightly better.

00 is definitely proof that the alternative universes (probably 00 more than any other) can be successful (and successful in merchandising too); they did kind of falter on the S2 00 Gunpla though. Then again, maybe it was the setting and premise of 00 that made it successful. SEED did well with the teens, but was panned by many older fans (whereas it seems like 00 had a pretty strong positive reception among all).

That said, they will always do something UC; it's the flagship of Gundam, plus it generally has the biggest fanbase (and the older fans, who presumably have more disposable income). Unicorn's great success and popularity will probably only spur the development and production of more UC series (adaptions of written works/manga, or "original" stuff like Igloo). Defintely won't be any AU stuff for atleast a year and a half or two (The Origin is supposed to be up next on TV) with the animation staff tied up between UC and The Origin.

And yeah, the Newtype monkies will probably be a comedy short or something. Also, it probably is obvious, but the visual style of Crossbone likely won't be adapted into any potential animation (I truthfully don't care for it).

Seems like we all agree F91 wasn't that good (obvious reason why); if they could approach the 2nd Universal Century like the 1st, and flesh it out properly it would probably be alot more enjoyable (I don't know if you've seen Victory, or had read F90, etc.). The F91 novellization was frankly alot better at making me rage at the failure to produce a fucking TV series. So really, it's probably not just you. The Federation-Zeon conflict had alot of appealing overtones and shit; the Earth Sphere-Jupiter conflicts of the 2nd UC are mostly smaller scale and maybe it lacks some element that the former didn't. Still, there's some really fucking harsh and vicious characters on the Jupiter side, and the Federation's tradition of apathy for non-Earth concerns on the other.

I'm not sure how anyone who liked Wing could hate Gundam X, it's literally the same type of anime but takes place mostly on Earth which I guess is the only complaint I can make of it since Gundam series tend to involve independence of space from earth, and not the aftereffects of such a battle to bring that about which Gundam X is all about. Them rushing it destroyed it though, the whole Newtype storyline was actually very interesting to me when I watched it, and the Frost brothers doing whatever they could to climb up after being classified as worthless gave them motive, albeit an insane one.

Gundam 00 was great until they made that disaster they called a movie. I didn't even pay for it and I felt robbed.

Gundam X's biggest flaw was probably the pacing, yeah. It's unfortunate, the Frost Brothers were two of the best antagonists in memory; plus Newtypes being a freak mutation and not the next step for humanity was a nice twist (even though I prefer to think of them in the UC sense).

00 made up, and more, for being forced into exile during the SEED years for me; I liked the movie (I wish they had perhaps done an OVA or something instead to do the dialogues with the ELS) but it still felt really compressed, the pacing was fairly bad.

Think the last one I played was World(whichever the Wii port was, had Gundam 00 in it) although my favorite one was probably G Gen Portable. Had you play through the major battles in each of the Gundam series in order, and had more Mobile Suit Variants compared to World from what I remember(for example G Gen Portable had like every variation of the Astray Red Frame and Blue Frame, while G Gen World only had the basic ones). Although they showed Powered Red in this trailer so it looks promising in that regard.

I haven't seen any press releases stating as such, but apparently Gackt is rumored to be singing the first OP for The Origin.

Probably take it with a grain of salt until later in August.

Also, the SEED HD remaster is supposedly going to be released in a 4-part collection beginning in the fall on Blu-Ray for Region A (the Americas, Japan, etc.); I don't really know if there's going to be DVD releases (probably?). An English dub is unlikely, unless they reuse the original one, and that would likely require some editing to properly sync audio.. so yeah probably just subtitles. It will also probably require "importing" (in the same sense that the Unicorn Blu-Rays are availible for purchase because someone like RightStuf sells them in this region).

There's still October through December for a not-SEED/AGE MG, so don't throw down your cash just yet (unless 1/144 is your thing).

..Not that i'd count on it; how the shit do we still not have a MG Jegan or Geara Zulu? I know SEED has it's HD thing going on, and AGE is new (but holy fuck are the video sales terribad and other merchandise sales mediocre at best from some accounts); but striking out month after month for capitalizing on Unicorn's strong sales? lol

Also there's those other Wing MGs that may or may not even exist (Altron, etc.) in prototype form too (or were lazily put out as a limited pose B-Club kit: see the Leo).

I dunno how the only 2 MG kits to come from CCA are the 2 main ones(3 if you count Hi-Nu I guess). They didn't even do the Re-GZ which is Amuro's first suit in the movie, or the Jagd Doga which was not even a grunt suit(and they could release it in 2 colors, which they have shown they love to do with shit like Zakus and Strike Rouge). I mean come on.

That said I'd buy the shit out of MG Delta Plus, updated transformable MS based off the Hyaku Shiki/Delta Gundam? Sign me the fuck up.
