In typical Amiami fashion it sold out instantly.

It's the 1/1 GFT RX-78-2 at least. It has that knee swing mechanic that the Jesta featured along with the PS frame, sonic wielded hands.. and probably an LED slot. I wonder if they worked a Core Fighter in too; the 2.0 did manage it.
Well, regardless of the Core Fighter I guess the Ver. OYW will get supplanted now. lol
Also the camera is green. That's probably an art error.
GFT?
Was wanting a RX and was thinking of getting the RG eventually, but I may just get this one later then.
Gundam Front Tokyo (AKA the 30th Anniversary 1/1 statue, but where they've moved it to now outside Odaiba Divers-City, in the wake of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011). The RG is based off it too (so I guess you can use the terms interchangably..).
HG G30th and the RG; MG Ver. OYW and RG - as you can see, the OYW is really what all these subsequent designs are derrived from:
Spoiler: show
Usually, we don't get the final production model on display at these shows, but since it's the RX-78-2 (and they've hyped it up) this will probably be an exception (like the Nu Ver. Ka.).
This probably means it can reproduce the (less) famous backwards shot from when the White Base wiped out Dren's Musai Squadron in Episode 32/Movie 3. I also won't be even remotely surprised if we see indicators on the runners of this 3.0 that Bandai has already made provisions for The Origin version down the road (it's certainly different enough that the armor will almost be all new, again).Code:1995年、バンダイが進化させてきた“プラモデルを可動させる技術”と、ユーザーやクリエイターがアップデートしてきた“メカニックとしてのモビルスーツのリアリティ”の融合によって立体化された「RX-78-2 ガンダム」を第一弾としてMGはスタートした。 In 1995, along with Bandai's revolutionizing plastic model technology to allow for fully poseable models and consumer's and creator's re-visioning of mobile suits as machines that could exist in the real world, Bandai took this concept and released a 3D model of the RX-78-2 to launch its MG line. Since then, RX-78-2 Gundam has been released as Ver 1.5, Ver. Ka, Ver. OYW 0079 and Ver. 2 to mark the technological advancements of the time. In December 2012, Nu Gundam Ver. Ka was released, showing the evolution of MG technology since "Ver 2.0". The detailed split armor parts and sliding gimmicks showed off the new technology and potential of Gunpla. Upon reaching this landmark, and as a testament to the trials in the past few years for bridging into the future, in order to further evolve MG technology, we have now reached a point where we believe it is necessary to release a new MG RX-78-2 Gundam kit to consolidate all these advancements. In looking forward to the future of MG, not only do we look at reproducing the newest Gundam designs, but we also include new interpretations of articulation and poseability for a "scale model produced for articulation" so that we can achieve a level of reality beyond our imaginations. This starts with MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver 3.0. Combining an "amazing level of articulation" and "ultimate moving external armor", we will incorporate a "moveable armor system" that surpasses the articulation of the previous Ver 2.0 model. This system will include a feature of allowing armor parts to move along with the inner frame. We have focused on improving the main obstacles to movement in previous models i.e. the shoulder armor etc..., which will now have additional articulation to improve movement greatly. I'm also hearing the LED is going to be "white" (or essentially "clear"), as the main head cameras are all different colors. This is definitely long overdue..

lol So basically they just fucking made it official?
They were already stocking the Blu-Rays (which are essentially "imports"); now they're bringing the DVD sets over with the English audio added in. Well regardless, this is good news since they shuttered Bandai Ent. and just centralized everything, the whole future of Gundam (the anime, not the kits) in North America was kinda up in the air. This probably helps ease any concerns about them pulling out of a region responsible for like around 20% or so of their earnings.
And shit, 17.99? If people fucking pirate the shit out of this and then bitch on /m/ (when it isn't being flooded by fucking waifu/best girl threads), there isn't an excuse anymore.
Please let this all fall into place - being English-speaking Gundam fans has been suffering for awhile now.
I love how easy the Physalis Stands unlike a ton of other MGs I've put together. The details on the bazooka and the inclusion of the nukes and missiles as parts makes me sqeee pretty hard.
BTW Edelweiss do you know any store that has the MG of Haman's Qubeley in stock? If it has that dumb bitch Puru in it I don't want it.
The Physalis is a great kit, despite its age. It would be something we'd probably really love seeing a 2.0 of.
Probably just send TH an e-mail at [email protected] if you want to do the domestic thing and have them procure one for you; otherwise it's probably HLJ (restocking this month) or something. I'd be shocked if they didn't find one quick, the Qubeleys are pretty popular and get reproduced at least biannually.
By the way, if you ever decide to try resin conversions, HobbyFan has the Mass Production Qubeley set at 8 out of 10 production requests (and you can get the thrid-party polycap joints from HLJ for like 2-3 dollars per pack).
Alright lets do this:

Need some opinions -- been debating picking up either the MG Dom or Rick Dom. I'm leaning towards the Rick Dom because I like the details and the giant cannon is awesome (can you really say no to a cannon that is bigger than the mobile suit??), but I like how the Dom has more weapons and accessories.. Color on the Rick Dom is better, but think this is going to be my first custom paint job, so that's more or less a moot point.
Either one is fine really, the color difference was due to their wanting to distinguish between the two variants I guess (which would just be painted over to correct anyway..).
The space-use Rick Dom has a the 360 mm. Giant Bazooka, a Beam Bazooka and more verniers/different main thrusters since it's a space-use MS. The ground-pounding Dom comes with a MMP-80 90 mm. machine gun (and spare magazines), the 360 mm. Giant Bazooka, 800 mm. Raketen Bazooka, and the a Panzerfaust.
I think the dry-rub decals (rank markings anyway) are different too. Unless any of the above differences matter, it's probably just a price/availibility issue then.
What would be a good starter MG? Still leaning towards MG AGE-1 Normal and the newer Wing Gundam MG.
RGs are bascially MGs but in HG 1/144 size right?
First MG I picked up was Freedom because it was, and still is, one of my favorite Gundams. I really liked the kit, although I remember the sticker on the gun sucking, so I had to paint that. I don't recommend Strike Freedom though, the wings are too heavy..
I only buy kits based on suits I really like. Even though I've heard its not the most poseable and the arms don't have an inner frame, I've always thought the Dom family (save for the Rick Dias..) was awesome, so I ordered the MG Rick Dom this morning. If they ever release a MG Dreissen, I'll definitely get one of those. I imagine Edelweiss or Coolbeans have built way more MGs than me and can probably give you better recommendations.
To an extent, they are. RGs adopted a more extensive level of armor seperation and extensive panel lines compared to their MG version counterparts (really, the RX-78 OYW is the only one that comes close to their panel lines). But as you likely recall, they're bringing that extensiveness over to the MGs with the RX-78 3.0; it probably won't be utilized on -every- MS.
The general consensus on the MG AGE-1 is that it's a great kit from a bad (but not the worst) series. On a related note, If you decide to get a Wing MS perhaps consider the idea of (eventually) getting the old HG 1/100 Endless Waltz kits to kit bash with - it's VERY easy to make a Heavyarms Kai or Sandrock Kai (there's a H6 thing to insert the armor cloak parts into) for example. Altron (twin dragon fangs and trident) would be more challenging however Deathscythe Hell is already a thing.
The AGE-1 is actually a good model, both in design and as a MG, although I might do the Age-2 myself whenever they release the Double Bullet version since i'm assuming it'll come with nice effect parts. I would normally suggest going with either the MG Aile Strike or Strike Noir but with the 2.0 announcement idk, although that may cause the 1.0 kits to be abit cheaper at some points. The G Gundam models are still pretty good to this day imo, I have the MG God Gundam and you can get alot of cool poses with it.
Personally if I were gonna buy an MG again, it might either be the Delta Plus, ReZel or the Victory Gundam just because of the boner that MS gives me.
The AGE-2DB is dropping in June; and if you were going to get a Strike Gundam, you'd be better off getting the Remaster/2.0. I don't think the 1.0s would drop much (as the Launcher and Sword packs work with the 2.0 - see: Perfect Strike) and they've pulled the 1.0 Aile from production awhile ago. Worst case is that you end up with a basic 1.0 Strike (use it for damage/detailing practice I guess?), or maybe that Strike Dagger conversion surfaces again (and you can convert it).
The G Gundam line is solid too (though showing its age); I doubt any of the HY2M LED parts stuff is around anymore for the God/Shining/Master, sadly. The only places the HY2M effect parts (the Finger parts, LED Heads) would probably show up are auction sites and Mandarake.
Anywho, I agree with Cleverness: the AGE-1 is a pretty straightforward build, and its a great kit to boot. If there had to be a candidate for someone's first MG, that would likely be it as its both modern (representative of contemporary MG technology, prior to 3.0) and simple (non-transforming).
Not that there's any other kind of Gundam discussions going on as of now, but perhaps dividing the model stuff into another thread would be of benefit?
