I know it's to set up that they have to win the last match, but I can't wrap my mind around how Sei and Reiji went from tied with 11 others for first, to down to 17th place. And there were only 7 people who could have gained points to catch up, not pass them... I can understand if they were still in the bottom half of the 16 qualifying spots, and therefore their spot wasn't secured, but to be out of it just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah I'm trying to wrap my head around that too, but it just doesn't seem possible for them to drop all the way to 17th. There were Nine races and we know that four of the winners were undefeated (Meijin, Mao, Fellini, & Aila) so that means that only 5 could potentially gain ground on Sei & Reiji and 7 others would loose ground with them. The worst they could possibly be now is tied with Luang Dallara who they should have a tie breaker over due to the head to head win.

Yeah, likely 2015 at this point. I don't know if it'll end up being an OVA since the absurd financial success and critical acclaim of Unicorn is lending a lot of heft to adapting Hathaway's Flash next (and the UC staff has stated several times that they would relish the opportunity to animate HF).

I wouldn't really place any stock in RDs (since the preponderance of sales are model kits) dictating much.

I hope we do see HF (and beyond) though; there's a 33 year gap from F90 through Ghost (which coincides with Victory). That's a long span of time that's been virtually ignored outside of a frustrating movie and some (mostly translated) mangas (and milking the OYW does need to stop). Unicorn has made UC Gundam as popular as it's likely been in decades so... let the Origin be it, then usher in the second Universal Century and (for many) the only vaguely known stories that preceed Victory.

If they wanted to try more AUs, I suppose we could see if Frozen Teardrop is as fanfiction-tier as it's being made out to be or prepare for a third SEED installment (jesus christ no).

I would much prefer a third SEED instead of Frozen Teardrop (admittedly I didn't mind SEED as much as a lot of folks and like to ignore Destiny..). Wing has not aged well and nothing I've ever read from Frozen Teardrop sounds even remotely desirable.

Stargazer was cool, and the Astray mangas were fun. It's a good setting, and hell, the original SEED series would have been 100x more enjoybale if 2 simple things happened:

1. No more fucking Hiraiface
2. No more Frey

How's the new series in terms of plot and characters? I read about it briefly, and it just seems like Pokemon with Gundams? I liked Wing and SEED in terms of overall themes and plot, but not sure I'd like the new series.

Build fighters is amazing so far. There are a couple weird things (Reiji's origins..), but it's had some really good battles (this latest ep and the Build Strike v Zaku Amazing fight come to mind) and the characters are really likable. If you go into it expecting a normal Gundam story, you're probably going to be disappointed, but if you go in expecting to see some cool mecha and cool battles, it really delivers. Also, Gundam baseball!

That's from the latest Super Robot Wars series -- ran in 2010 I think?

If you're familiar with gunpla then you'll love it. Even if you don't you will still enjoy it for it's nods and fanservice of the gundam meta-verse.
