You gotta be careful with kits you find in person. Always check the manufacture date on the boxes. I think everything after 2006 is probably fine but those early 2000 kits are just... Bad. You're gonna see horrible seem lines on that wing gundam and just overall poor quality. They're great for practicing on though! Painting. Panel lining (especially on every gundam song series early 2000 kits) and even some molding (to hide the seem lines).

Old HG kits are pretty bad quality, with some work like sanding/painting/etc they can be nice showcase models but require alot of effort. It wasn't until the Seed HGs came out that the quality started going up on the HG 1/100 kits.

This is sort of a half truth. The MG line left these things behind by about 2001; it really wasn't until the 00 HG 1/100s that they began imitating the early-2000s MG construction and essentially eliminated the need for seam filling/use of solvent cement to melt the contacting surfaces together and stuff. I guess one of the "pinnacles" of pre-2005 MG technology from this era (2005 being when the RX-78-2 Ver. OYW, 2.0s and essentially modern MGs began) is the Zaku II F2. The Acguy, Z'gok, Hizack, Gogg, and pretty much all of the UC kits (and the G Gundam kits also) are right up there in terms of quality.

There's also the MG Wing Zero Custom from this eve-of-2.0 era. And the SEED shit too.

^If you need a reason to buy either, they surely blow the 1/144s away (and the MG has neither of them, though there are HG 1/100s that are early 2000s MG-like).

Also some JPs I talk with on XIV say the general sentiment is that that side of the fanbase is rather excited about Mobile Suit Eureka Gainerdam (G-Reco). TH shipped me a MG Turn X, a new Turn A, Dozle's Zaku II, Banshee Norn, and a B-Club 1/100 Cui.

The wait is killing me.

was actually wanting one of the GFT kits but sold out besides the Nu Gundam GFT. Gloss injection seems tempting.

Dang that's a cool kit. The more it's posted the more I want it. I was in Barnes and noble today and they well gundam models! I saw the reissued heavy arms, wing zero and death scythe custom MG kits. As well as sengoku HG and MG and fenice HG kit. A few RG kits and these little $10 miniature boxed gundam like figures. Picked one of those up but they're all decently priced too I was so surprised. Been wanting the heavy arms and deathscythe kits. Fenice too. Freaking plastic addiction

Yeah that's where I got mine couple months back. Worth it. Gonna finish up the rest of the MG ew wing lineup before building other mgs first.

Eyes set on that MG OYW RX78-2 Animation Colors and AGE-1 Normal. Thinking of getting one of the doms too

Did you remove any nubs and stuff that might be interfering with the hip connector? Or is it a matter of it being loose? If it's loose, you know what to do. If that polycap somehow split (this can happen, but usually in the old stuff/due to extreme temperature variances in quick succession) then the most you can do is probably superglue and tightening it with superglue/Future.

Yeah everything is fine. It just seems loose for some reason...if I pick it up then they suddenly want to fall out.

Confused the hell out of me when I first noticed it.

I may have to put some superglue inside the waist slots.

Really? Can't say I've felt that way. Think the only MG that I've ever felt was flimsy was the Strike Freedom, I I feel that's more to do with how heavy it's backpack is.

Agreed; the back heavy ones being flimsy I definitely agree with (they wouldn't be if there was a sturdier torso that locked or something). But most MGs feel extremely solid IMO. I can't genuinely think of anything besides the Freedoms and maybe the Crossbones if you don't secure the legs together properly at points (specifically the "risky" areas being the connector to the upper leg/thigh). That might be due to their smaller sizes though.

Well, those and the non-Zaku 1.0 Zeon kits. The Dom's knees can be if they get loosened up by time or errors in assembly, leading to rickety lower legs. That whole issue is really attributable to the lack of proper innerframes and the lack of layered structures/multiple connection points (see the Zaku II 2.0 for fundamentally sturdy as fuck legs). Transformables are sort of a given as being predisposed towards getting floppy/flimsy (though if you keep them fixed pose, you can prevent the eventual wear and tear on joints); Future can help.

Idk I have a different experience. I have two relatively new MG kits. Sengoku astray and Exia ignition. The sengoku is pretty good for the most part, legs can be a bit weird some times. The exia though is just idk. The legs are like two spaghetti noodles.
