Producer Laura Faust developed this series with the goal of creating a more sophisticated version of the My Little Pony franchise with more realistic and proactive characters than the usual sexist stereotypes she saw in earlier incarnations. My guess would be that for all crap about Kubo forgetting what he'd written and whatnot, Orihime displayed some jealousy/sadness seeing Rukia and Ichigo together early on, then once again after what I think was when Grimmy showed up the first time.

Animation is surprising good, and colourful. I dunno if I could watch it based on the content (and the fact I'm not a little girl), but hey, the more kids shows that actually have decent animation the better.
