so in the heat of the moment they are supposed to pause, yell at there patrol mates and say hey, i got this bro, you can holster your weapon, we'll just burn my clip, turn back and then unload? Of course if this was a bunch of black cops lighting up a white guy, would barely be a footnote in the news.

Obviously they can't all talk it out beforehand who is going to shoot and such, but once any of those officers heard how many gunshots were going off from their fellow police officers, they didn't need to continue unloading bullets into the car. After the first second of gunfire the guy in the car was probably already dead, but they still felt the need to pump a hundred or so more rounds into his car/dead body. Had it been a car full of maybe 4-5 people who were all armed, sure I can see the use of 150 shots to assure that they don't end up aiming their weapons at innocents/officers, but one guy who seemed like he wasn't going to attack again once the car was stopped doesn't warrant that much firepower to subdue.

Regarding the cops lighting up the car, did it really take 150+ bullets to kill one guy? That's what makes everyone question the situation. I was always taught one-shot-one-kill and never ever point your gun at something/someone that you are not fully committed to pulling the trigger on. I know this is a little different, but these guys that open fire like it's a speed-shooting competition really make me question training tactics.

REAL gun fights follow the rule of three. three seconds, three buillets, three feet. outside of that its all miss and whiffs without nerves and experience(how many have exp with shoot to subdue, not many). after talking to alot of cops i know and reading reports, military, law enforcement, and those who have experienced shooting at people 70% are miss and this is around the 10feet range. shooting at targets and people are different. like a noob blm standing 5feet from cerb with filters on and they still cant stun gates of hades. let alone a whole alliance of em

Yeah, I'm not actually concerned with the number of bullets fired since it's impossible to coordinate something like that in that situation; nor is it reasonable. However, that doesn't excuse hitting innocent bystanders.

When your involved in a active shooting you do not hear the shots of your fellow officers.

You just hear shots, and knowing that the person your shooting at might still be taking pot shots with his firearm, then your going to continue firing until your sure the person is down.

Though, you have to admit, there's something wrong with only one officer shooting and everyone else just hanging out, too. It makes sense that either all or none of the cops are firing.

Yea, my guess is on they were trying to confiscate it for evidence and him resisting lead to the phone getting smashed.

A lot of cops down here (Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Broward) are especially paranoid when it comes to being recorded. There's been several instances of harassing photographers/trying to confiscate/destroy their cameras for no reason other than they were recording an on duty officer (which isn't illegal).

Annoyance with the cops will always be there. But not much more then what's given to meter maids and the like.

While having an independent agency wouldn't cure it overnight it would be a step in the right direction.

I'd go as far as to the agency would have to have the same suspicion of cops regular cops have when they approach civilians. None of this unity post 9/11 bullshit where they look out for one another.

I remember reading something recently that said a lot of people who have to shoot and kill people (soldiers, firing squads) have an aversion to killing and purposefully miss. This kind of sounds like the opposite though, where everyone shot a lot so you can't really tell who killed the suspect.
