Main reason I am seeing the film i haven`t picked up 2 or 3. Are they better on par with Dragon Tat? When the investigation finally gets going after 200 odd pages it does become intriguing as hell.

The original Swedish? version is kind of a dark, slow, crime drama. I first saw the preview for this version at the last transformers movie and I was laughing at how they paired 1-2 second clips with loud rock music to make it seem like an action movie.

I didn't like the Swedish version cause the dude was ugly and the book is very clear about him being a heartthrob.

So I haven't read the books or seen the previous movies but I hear that the movies came out in a different order. This one supposedly being the first. Should I wait til this comes out and watch it then the other two or can I watch them in the released order and still make some sense from them? Also what's this Swedish version that everyone's talking about?

This movie is also the first book in the trilogy. It hasn't been released yet, so none of the movies are out before the first chronologically.

You really should read the books, especially if you like mysteries and/or thrillers. They're very good.

A couple of years ago a film company in Sweden turned the books into Swedish films. They're okay. The lead actress is excellent. The lead actor not so much. They can be downloaded and watched with subtitles.

Still, I'd read the books first if I were you. They're absolutely amazing. I am not a fan of mysteries or thrillers but I loved them.

Only found one song from the OST on Youtube. Really want the song from the trailer but guess I'll have to wait.

Thanks Aduid, I guess I'll be picking up the books then. I was confused about the movies. I thought the Swedish films fire/hornet's nest were American and that they were releasing #1 (tattoo) in the wrong order. So the order of the books are Tattoo, Fire, Nest correct? Thanks again~

Yes. And there is an amazing courtroom drama in Nest that hooked me again just as I thought that the novels took a turn for the worse.

Swedish movies seemed like expensive TV special movies. Still great never the less. I'm normally not a huge fan of remakes of foreign films for American viewers, but the director and Craig being part of this movie excites me.

To be fair, the people making movie trailers/advertising nowadays rarely have anything to do with the actual production.

I don't much care for the distortion between 1:12 and 1:16 then again between 1:55 and 2:00 (did youtube do that or is it intentional?) but it's a serviceable cover. Hopefully this sparks renewed interest in the original--Led Zeppelin being the greatest fucking rock band ever and all.
