dual monitors - tools, tips, tricks?

So I use my 38" panasonic as a dual monitor for my laptop when i'm doing large spreadsheets or other business applications and I'm wondering if anyone uses and specific tools or apps that help them manage their windows across multiple desktops.

i remember a few years ago when i first started using dual's nvidia had a context menu item that said 'move window to screen 1/2' which would easily allow me to swap windows from one screen to the other. This is something i dont have now despite having a nvidia card and would really like as sometimes i dont have my TV on but there are windows there that i would like to swap over in a one click motion rather then turning my tv on and dragging to my laptop screen.

any tips, tricks or tools that people know, use, and like would be awesome.

    thanks!

I use DisplayFusion Pro for window/taskbar extensions across multiple monitors. It's pretty spiffy in my opinion.

Was one of the cheaper options out there from my looking that provides you with everything. $40 I think for the home license. Didn't find any free/open source ones that I liked as much.

I don't have a free option, but I love Ultramon. I have been using it for a few years now, really handy.

DisplayFusion has worked perfectly for me as well.

i just tried ultramon and i'm digging it pretty hard, already have found several ways to more efficiently work on both monitors. i will use the trial for the first 30 days and if i continue to LOVE it then I will most likely purchase.

thanks for ALL the suggestions guys I appreciate it.

You can get it for free, of course.

Been using ultramon for a long time.

Used ultramon, but when I found out displayfusion has the scrolling wallpaper option, switched immediately. Both are great dual monitor programs.

This is useful even for people who dont have multiple monitors

Dexpot. Creates virtual desktops. Useful if you want to have different desktops for different things.
