    Post Patch Adventuring Fellow Findings

    Level Cap Raised to 85

    Level Cap 70-75

    I found leveling in Bibiki bay so far on rabbits and birds worked well for 65-70, then 70-75 should be pretty easy on goblins and catoblopas, just need to stun bomb toss.

    At this level I'd recommend using Fierce Attacker, simply because the damage output of your NPC gets to be pretty damn high. But as dancer I don't really need Soothing Healer.

    At level 71 my NPC started using Spiral Hell without food, which leads me to believe the food simply gives your NPC a +skill enhancement or something.

    I have not heard any reports of NPCs using the new magical wses at 80 yet, but I'll watch for it and see if my NPC uses it.

    Also seems my NPC uses higher level wses the higher she gets, as she has scaled the 70s she has stopped using gimp ass wses less and less and started using spiral hell, Guillotine, and Cross Reaper more and more.

    Please report any other findings you guys have, since right now I can't find ANY information on post 70 NPCs. Has anyone seen the 300 skill magical wses? I've heard rumours food unlocks empyrian weaponskill at 85, is this true?

    Finally I'll post my little guide I wrote up for a friend on what weapon choice is best for your NPC when paired up with you.

    You -> NPC

    Axe/Dagger/Katana/Strining Pummel -> Scythe/Gaxe

    Archery/Marksmanship/Ascetics Fury -> Sword/G. Sword

    G. Katana <-> Polearm

    As for GK/Pole its a bit trickier due to the diversity of the skillchain properties of these weapons. Potentially both of you using GK would work to be a solid combo if you know the properties off by heart.

    The trick is to let your NPC ws first, then follow up and close darkness. Each of these combo set ups will be able to very easily close darkness every time the NPC weaponskills. The really tricky part is knowing what weaponskills are the good ones, and if your NPC fucks up and uses a shitty one then you need to swap and use your hardest hitting weaponskills, not your darkness closer.

    Also would love to hear from anyone who has finished capping their NPC on what zones they found worked well, I'm having trouble finding a good spot for 75-80.

    Well, I rushed mine to cap as Soothing Healer a month or so ago. It learned the relevant new spells at all the levels a White Mage would.

    It still likes Koki, which is nice because for some reason it seems to do more damage than her gimpy Kashas.

    NPCs do get new Weaponskills, and all weaponskills natively. (Before 71+ cap, They would only get Quested WS when using food, Now they get it normally).

    I've seen mine use Tachi: Ageha plenty of times as well, so i suppose thats something to consider. Would have been nice if our NPC got refresh as 82, But I figure one of you would have mentioned it.

    They do get Cure VI, Protect V, and shell V though.

    As for 80-85 levels, Dangruf Wadi is nice if you have a job that can solo well. It sucks otherwise. Avoid Opo-Opo.

    I used Horutoto until level 81 or so, when the mobs became EM or lower to my NPC.

    I did the basement of CN for most of my NPC levels (T-VT mobs). As far as I can tell, they never get Autorefresh or Refresh. It's a pretty major failing of the NPC system in general, because any benefit they give is offset by downtime if you actually want them to keep casting magic.

    Go with Spear. Penta is still awesome and Sonic Thrust is still a 3.0 fTP at 100% which is pretty damn good for a 2h weapon.

    I find the best damage comes from matching their weapon to yours so you can close darkness skillchains off them. On average my eviscerations do 1.1~1.2K dmg on EPs~DCs, so when I close a darkness SC off my NPC thats an additional 1.5K dmg+

    Speaking of which I really need to get the skillchain dmg+ ring, but its proving to be hard to find

    My mithra is not even 70 atm but I found Zeruhn Mines to be a great place to exp easily for now if someone needs a place to catch up.

    Yes! 65-70 was a breeze doing GoV/FoV pages in Valley of Sorrows then Zeruhn, and I got a couple merits out of it too. No Prousse ring though =/

    I'd suggest doing GoVs in an area that has something you want, whilst getting levels on your NPC.

    I'm still leveling my NPC from level 30. I got her a while back, probably 6-7 months ago and just never used her. Now that I am using her, anyone have any ideas how to catch her up with my levels quickly? I have a couple jobs in the 30s range, but they aren't geared at all. Any suggestions?

    She'll gain xp based on her level compared to the target monster, not dependent on your level at all. Just go with a level 90 job and murder the max number of monsters a day. You should be able to kill Robber Crabs in Kuftal for max XP/kill (and seals for you) until she hits about 50.

    You'll also want to build Familiarity with her, so you can start getting Tactics Pearls and can kill more monsters per summon. You can do this by summoning her with your Signal Pearl (each summon is Familiarity+1) and by going to a Rendevous Point and selecting the "chat" option once a day (days end and begin at JP midnight). This page is a guestimation that I half-updated a month ago about the new progression and should have links to all the relevant quests:
    https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Adventuring_Fellow

    It should be a lot easier to blitz her level up due to increased kills/summon, but Affection is hard to rush.

    Doesn't matter, what your level is or hers, just use your normal job and xp whilst doing GOV or FOV, remember to turn her away from attacking mobs with aoe ( bunnies, gobs, etc etc) and conal/fan shaped attacks and she should level up pretty damn fast.

    also, NPC in ru'lude gardens sells Miratete's memoirs for 10k fellow points

    hope this helps..

    Any GoV recommendations that are not packed (Zeruhn), or don't have mobs with AoEs that one-shot my npc? (Horutotto slimes......)

    I am leveling one from scratch too while skilling up a level 90 job in the maze. I like the mobs the mobs because the bats have no aoe that matters to the NPC, crawlers just have that one frontal cone move and no ones ever there. Those mobs might be hard solo, though (DC) I do have pet whm. I can tell you I hit the level cap way before my NPC likes me enough to get the quest to break the level cap. Sooooo can I just spam through a tactics pearl with out doing anything and still get the familiarity every summon? I'm guessing yes but just wonder if anyone know for sure

    Edit. Maze mobs are not really near a book unfortunately

    Going to try out Maze, book bonus I don't really care for, already capped on merits/xp, and I don't really care whatever the good item is in the chests. Thanks for the info.

    I am fairly confident that they get EXP chains, too. So leveling does go faster if you team up.

    Yeah they seem to get xp chains. I grouped once and got turbo level ups. My nanako is 77 now, been neglecting her after I finished the cap quests though. PUP/dnc using archery robot is super rape btw. Sucker shoots for 3k dmg outside of abyssea.

    I've actually been using GK, seems to be putting out good damage and had the added bonus of not using AoE WS (back when those were a problem).

    You probably do not have a high enough bond level to initiate the cap quest. Speaking of bond, did they ever raise the bond cap since the adjustments? All I know prior was that my NPC was capped out.
