How can people complain about the speed of the auto attack? It leaves room for haste spells and equip, otherwise we'd never stop swinging

You call a 4-5 second delay "room for haste spells and equip"? Every other MMO on the planet has "haste spells and equip", and don't feel the need for 5 second delays between attacks for 2-handers. What is your obsession with having your character stand there like an idiot for such a long time?
If you want to justify it somehow, put in a "tired" animation in-between swings, where the character struggles to reset his/her battle stance. Better yet, put some real weight behind the weapons so that you don't have to animate it. I see that you're a ranger, though, so you're used to massive amounts of time between bow shots pre-haste/gear.
That's pretty much the problem though. SE said in the battle Q and A they don't want Haste to be the end-all-to-be-all stat people stack, but with that god awful delay what the hell are they expecting us to wear to make the game seem like it's going at a decent pace?
People can argue about the implementation/speed of the auto-attack, but no one actually prefers the current 1-1-1-2-1-1 crap, right?
No, but a faster auto-attack and shorter cooldowns on basic attack abilities would open up more options than sitting and watching, especially for melee. There's a not-so-fine line, and many other companies have been able to easily tread it, so I don't understand why SE has so much trouble with it.
The attack speed in that video is ~3s between swings, 4 maybe. Considering how often you WS in this game and the bunch of different abilities to use people are seriously exaggerating how "slow" it is.
Go log in and note how long it takes you to regenerate the stamina for a standard attack.
Hint: it's longer than the delay between the attacks in the video.
Hmm well providing DoM's attacks are also around the same slow-ish speed, won't it just mean that battles are going to last longer? As in, speeding up auto-attack for everyone wouldn't give melee more inputs per battle, battles would just end faster.
I'm not entirely clear on what they have planned for DoM though.
This now just looks like XI-2 with more abilities per class, I guess people should be happy?
"I just want a husband that let me breathes once in a while between two punches
Wanting to be able to type an essay in between every attack is the worst fucking argument ever. Are you not able to pay attention more than 2-3 min in a row? Do you want a gameplay that is so terribly slow that you have to chat inbetween every single hit to tolerate it?
And why the fuck do you not want teamspeak/ventrillo to talk with your party?
Who the fuck cares about auto attack speed, seriously. Gtfo with that shit. Like its somehow a different gameplay experience to see 50 pop up twice as opposed to 100 popping up once.
Bitching for the sake of bitching, dunno why I'm surprised.
Yea, there's plenty of legitimate things to bitch about than the auto attack speed which is faster than what we have now.
Not to mention everyone seems to be comparing it to FFXI, which had a whole 5-10 abilities to use, mostly on retarded high cooldowns. Now there's a ton of activated abilities and techniques to use in between auto attacks. I'm glad they released the video. It was at least interesting and gave a sense of how things are shaping up. Just don't make it out to be like they're releasing a trailer for an expansion or something.
He can't hype a patch.
Now I'm not 100% sure, but didn't you say that auto-attack allows for easier communication between players?
I dunno what's going on Kaylia, but it looks like to me you're doing a 180 on basically everything that has to do with auto-attack. Maybe I'm mistaken and I'm thinking of someone else, but this shit has me laughing right now.
So mad I had to go to another section of the forums for a game I hate to reply about a patch I don't care about. Wait..
I'm saying its auto attack, its fucking automated. It makes zero difference if it pops up 100 times a second, or once every 5. TP gain and damage till be balanced around whatever speed it chosen, and your playable actions don't change because more white numbers pop on the screen. It's irrelevant, much like you.
