So Doughty is the last noteable RFA left now? With Schenn getting 3.5 and Bogosian getting 2.5 id hope they would get this done now. He turned down 6.8 mil already because he wants to be paid more the Kopitar.

Sad cause if he sits out hes just hurting him self as the Kings have a lot of depth in the minors that can hold the fort.

Turris too, looks like he'll be sitting out of Phoenix's camp. Personally I think they should just let the kid sit out and pout, even if means he holds out all the way until December. The kid has no leverage what so ever and wants $4mil after putting up like 25 points last year. If that's how he wants to play, let him waste a year of his development.

I think every Ducks road game the crowd should give Teemu a "Teemu! Teemu!" chant.... its his last year and I don't think its possible for anyone in sports to be more universally liked than Selanne is.

What I like most about Selanne is that he still puts up great numbers. If he didn't sit out 12 games last year, he would have hit 90 points, no doubt in my mind whatsoever. He was at 80 with only 73 games played and he was on a tear at the end of the season too.

Ok so the Sabers are about 3.6 mil over the cap atm, does that mean a trade will be made or can they just bury someone in the minors?

They kinda boned themselves there, almost everyone who makes enough to give them the space they need either they just traded for or they just signed a new contract with. The only one I could see getting/dumped down is Boyes, they aren't going to be able to unload Staffard with a $4m hit, he averages like 60 games and 40 points a year. Everyone else is either brand new or the most important players on their team like Vanek.

They only have 7 D and 14 forwards on the active roster atm, if they drop more than one forward down that leaves them without really any wiggle room for short-term injury solutions. Part that I'd be more concerned about is that while it's great that Pegula's committed to giving the team the financial backing they need to start winning, for a roster that's $3.6m over the cap I don't really see many names to get excited about.

Stafford for $4m is something a ton of teams would want. There are 18 teams that could take him without having to make any salary cap moves.

I think he's really good when he's healthy, just that there doesn't seem to be a giant market for paying $4m+ for guys who get less than 1PPG outside of Buffalo where he's already at or a Dale Tallon team, lol. That said, the Panthers still have $13m in space.

Good for Lombardi, I honestly do not get the holdout. If Doughty thinks he really deserves more than Kopitar straight out of his ELC after having one good yeahr and one okay year he's out of his mind. I liked him but he's really the only person who stands to end up looking like a shithead in all this. Gotta wonder how much of it is all him and how much is Don Meehan. Shitty part is knowing that if they lose him and the Kings flounder it'll be Lombardi that gets blamed because he didn't flinch when he shouldn't have.

I've read it's not about the amount, but that Doughty's agent wants 5 years, no more no less. And Lombardi isn't willing to let him make a power-play to get exactly what he wants.
