Any MMOs released lately that are any good? And if not any older MMOs that are easy to get into casually where you don't have to wait for ever to organize to get anywhere in the beginning?

How do you feel about freemium MMOs? Do you like arcade style beat-em-ups?
I've been playing Dungeon fighter online for a few months and having a blast. It's like Double Dragon had an orgy with Diablo, Streets of Rage, X-Men Arcade, and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. DFO really does a good job of capturing that arcade style beat-em-up genre and turning it into a mmo. My only complaint is that there's no direct option to play using a controller, but you can just use a joystick emulation program to get around it. There's literally no waiting for anything, the entire world map plays out like River City Ransom where you can get just about anywhere in less than 5 minutes. The community is friendly save for a few retarded kids with nothing better to do. PvP is very solid, a lot of the classes are very balanced (except the priest class is painfully slow) and there's even a practice mode so you can work on you combos and juggles. It's fun enough to get you hooked, but casual enough so you don't feel like you have to log in every day. I've only been playing 6-8 hours a week and get a lot done.
There is a cash shop, but it's fairly useless with the exception of being able buy a license to use the auction house and open your own bazaar, but money is so easy to farm that it's pointless. You can also buy avatars which are kind of like costumes in Maplestory, but they last forever and you can trade or sell them. The avatars do give you certain stat boosts, but they're pretty pointless unless you get a rare set. But the point is you're not obligated to spend money to experience the full game or anything like that.
There's even a huge expansion coming out on the 29th that's going add a ton of new content and fix a lot of the issues from the Korean version:
Unlimited play (currently only allowed to enter 156 dungeon rooms per 24 hours)
Balanced PVP
Raised level cap from 60 to 70
New class (actually 3 if you include subclasses)
Better xp scale (not as much mindless grinding)
New city and dungeons
And here's a trailer for the game. Kind of old, but couldn't find the newer ones
Damn, this nigga works for Nexon. Hope the XBLA version isn't IP restricted like the PC one is!
City of Heroes/Villains is going f2p soon, same for Lego Universe(lol). Played beta for Lego last year and it was alright.
If you're interested in trying Rift, use this link for the 7-day trial and help me get useless goodies: http://www.riftgame.com/en/products/...=ascend_invite
I've been playing Spiral Knights galore since it hit Steam.
Energy cost dropped quite considerably due to the influx of players. So I'm taking advantage of that with my pockets. :3
Wait for T.E.R.A.
Could always give Lord of the Rings Online a try if you haven't already since it's F2P and definitely casual friendly.
thanks for the suggestions.
I was gonna post and suggest this. CoH is my other game besides FFXI and its one of the most casual friendly games ever. I've been subscribed for all but one year of its existence but literally don't log on for months at a time sometimes (I don't think I had a chance to even log on for 2011 ... DOH!), but even with that play style you can do virtually anything with little planning/prep time.
Until this past year of development, CoH didn't even have an endgame. For most players (not so much me though) once you got to level 50 you'd wrap up any stuff you hadn't tried perhaps then your character would be left to collect dust as you went and made a new one. It was akin to finishing an RPG and the exact opposite of most other MMOs. But that was always the fun of CoH ... many players became Alt-A-Holics creating 100+ characters over the years trying all sorts of powersets, builds, archetypes, and of course lots of costumes.
Now there's a proper endgame, and currency, and even auction houses ... so now it suits all kinds of gamers.
P.S. Man did I just sound like an advertisement or what?
You forgot to mention how crazy the character creation is for CoH. I spent hours just making characters just to play around with the system.
DCUO is similar to CoH but a newer release... sadly however it's bug-ridden and there are a ton of freezing problems when doing group content due to poor game design. I don't know how to say it because I'm not a game designer or programmer but the game has a fundamental problem with releasing unused RAM to be used for other resources so the RAM reaches critical levels easily (sometimes several times an hour) thus causing your PS3/PC to freeze and require a hard reboot. Yes, people freeze and have to reboot there systems several times an hour on some occasions.
On top of this, since the last patch the loading screens throughout the game aren't functioning properly and some people timeout on them and have to quit the game. So add this problem on top of the freezing and the game is simply unplayable sometimes. There are still some who persevere through and keep playing, but the population seems to be decreasing quickly.
You could probably play through the story since getting to max level is a quick process (can be done in a couple days) and see how you can handle the freezing/timeout issues but I've all but given up hope on the game. Just figured I'd throw it out there as the game is pretty fun if you can get past or learn to tolerate the major issues.
Even though it's been out longer, I still prefer Champions Online. The same team worked on DCUO so everything is almost identical but you pay for the expansions instead of a monthly fee.
Kingdom of Loathing.
I'm a big PvP/World PvP lover, to fill my time until T.E.R.A I've been playing Sword 2. It's a pretty interesting RTS style of MMO (where you control 3 chars at once) it is F2P w/ cash shop. It's also pretty casual friendly, at least when it comes to leveling since you can kinda AFK-level. It also has a recruit NPC feature similar to Radiata Stories if you've ever played it. If you're bored and looking for an interesting MMO to pass the time and don't mind Cash shop (which is not -needed- since everything can be traded/bought) then check it out.

Also, in case you haven't heard Team Fortress 2 went F2P recently, it's an FPS with classes that's very addicting so check that as well.
