    i wouldnt worry too much about it. the bigger (or to some people, "fatter" but i hate using that term lol) you are, the more muscle you have. even if you never step foot in a gym (depends on your genetics. some more than others). your body needs muscle to support the weight you carry around, or else you'd be like those obese people you see in those automated wheelchairs with humungous calves and other body parts and size 2 feet (which sucks, i have some family members like that) or.. you'd die whenever people ask me about fitness questions and weight loss, im quick to correct them and say "dont lose weight. lose fat instead" because you want to keep whatever muscle you have and move forward lol. i wish i did that in the beginning, because my excess skin and me have a love/hate relationship lol

    So you're saying it's a good thing that I'm doing crunches/running every other day and not losing weight!?

    Actually my only real issue is eating right, I've taken a liking to honey bunches of oats cereal, that shit has got to be good for you. Think I'm going to ask my marathoner friend for some nutrition tips, she loves to eat chocolate so I need to know what chocolate is good (I'm guessing straight up chocolate and not like cookies/brownies). I've stopped drinking all forms of soda, hasn't dropped my weight any though (I used to drink diet though, so I should have only picked up healthier eating, not any calorie intake loss) and I'm pretty sure I should be focusing on eating meat and "avoiding" carbs/pasta/rice/etc. but need confirmation. I should just take a nutrition/diet class at my local CC...

    As old school as it is, there's really nothing that beats counting calories and comparing them to what you're burning.

    A few things I can help you with:

    Buy basic brownie mix. Instead of butter, eggs, milk, and oil, use 1 can of pumpkin. (the shit you would season and stuff to make pumpkin pie) It's not perfect, but it's the best way I know of to get yourself some chocolate and sweetness without it being too unhealthy. It barely tastes any different, just a slightly different texture.

    As far as carbs and stuff... meh. That diet isn't going to work for you if you love bread and pasta and shit. A good friend of my parents has actually lost a ton of weight recently by becoming semi-vegan (and working out of course), a "diet" which has basically been foregoing the heavy protein foods and loading up on carbs.

    Also, honey bunches of oats has loads of sugar and stuff. If you really want to fix your breakfast diet you need to go with something like cheerios, kix, etc. that tastes fine without a ton of flavor added.

    How far are you running at 350? >.> I'd imagine it's not all that far. You may be better off going with biking or something, at 350 running is a pretty damn high impact exercise, and you're probably getting sore and tired with a lot less fat burning accomplished than you would be with something that wouldn't wear you out as fast. Swimming is really good during the summer, at least.

    As for me and the thread topic... I'm 6'1-6'2 and I hover anywhere between about 215 and 240.

    scales are a fucking HORRIBLE tool to measure how healthy you are getting. go by body fat %'s. you might have god given arnold genetics, and not know it lol. just dont over train, or lose "weight" too fast. measure everything as well. your arms, your waist, your neck, calves etc. see how much they grow/shrink

    but none of that wont mean shit if you dont eat right. eating right is the hardest part about being healthy. lifting, swimming, and etc is actually the fun part


    protip: 99% of diets work. its just up to you to follow it. carbs are nothing to be scared of, but you want to always eat lots of protien.

    also, i think all cereals suck. just a personal preference. i dont like anything with the word "corn" in it (which is in damn near everything you eat, whether you like it or not). And even if the cereal is loaded with fibers and its "natural" (guarantee you most of the time, its not) i'd rather just eat cookie crisp, count chocula, or frosted flakes. if im going to have a cheat day, might as well eat something that doesn't taste like milk and cardboard. and if im in that much need of fiber, i'd just blend in oatmeal with my smoothies or shakes

    at least that's what I tell ppl on the internet. Ok not rly. 5'8" 120 lbs. I wish I was a monster like most of BG seems to be. A good 6'2 or 6'3 would be nice.

    So you're saying brownie mix + pumpkin? I don't like pumpkin pie, would that effect it? I ran out of vegetable oil the other night making brownies and read that you could use apple sauce in its place. Could that work in place of the pumpkin? Any links to something showing some exact measurements?

    I'm not the dude that posted he was 350. I'm 215-220ish. I'm only running about a mile right now, but I'm running at a solid pace (need to get a watch but I'm betting it's at least 7min pace, +/- a bit depending on day). I used to be a more serious runner and was always good at keeping a pace up and naturally push myself more when my stride gets shorter from being tired. I can't wait to get up to multiple miles and can get through to the winter.

    As for cereal...I really can't stand much cereal, I used to not like any cereal, always ate pop-tarts for breakfast. Girlfriend got me hooked on honey bunches of oats and I really enjoy that, prefer the cinnamon variety but figure the almond one is best for you (I hear my marathoner friend mentioning almonds a bunch). So instead of something like cheerios I'd rather find another breakfast entirely. Egg/english muffin/bagel or something?

    I know diets work and counting calories is best and all, last year I was weighing 40lbs less, though mostly because I starved myself to that (not truly starving I'd only eat 2-3 3-400 calorie meals a day) but I'm focusing more on eating the RIGHT stuff and either eating small enough portions I lose weight or just improve my running to a point I start burning enough calories to lose weight.

    First off no, the brownies won't taste like pumpkin at all. You may have to adjust cooking time a bit but it's really barely any different except a more spongy texture. I was really surprised when I tried it.

    For breakfast stuff, have you tried everything? Take a shot with Kix, Wheaties, bran cereals, etc. There's usually something you can find that you'll have a taste for.

    Otherwise look into like whole grain toast/bagels with low sugar jams or "homemade" almond butter. (a lot of grocery stores now have grinders where you just push a button and it turns pure almonds to butter and you hold a jar under it)

    It really just depends on how fast you want it to be. You can find healthier versions of egos and shit, but it's not going to be near as good as say, a decent mix made with skim milk and flavored with nuts and stuff. But, like I said, if you try all the healthy ones you can probably find a cereal you like.

    ... you burn 300 calories in a "vigorous" 5 minute fap lol. If you're having to eat sub 1500 calories you probably really need to get more active heh.

    i think we probably should take it to that thread lol. my IRL friends cant stand how much of a fitness nerd i've become already, i dont want my FFXI friends to hate my guts, too lol

    but ill just answer this. i think you should start on a solid foundation of what you should/shouldnt eat if you want to meet your goals. but at the same time, you only live so long, eat what you really enjoy but try to keep it reasonable.

    i'll tell you this though, before i end it here. you will get fatter off of a cup cereal and muffins than you would eating 10 pieces of bacon and 4 whole eggs lol. i dont have much an appetite for breakfast, i just drink a heavy smoothie packed with antixodants, protien, fiber and vitamins

    6'2 as of today 338 lbs. working on it. little over 2 years ago I was a bigger fatty 480 lbs.
    ultimately shooting for 200-220 lbs.
