Fantasy Football 2011: Jumping the Gun

$51 for Tebow is awesome. Also my FAAB system is quite possibly the most genius idea of my league (that and FG scoring), more leagues should adopt it.

If you're the #1 team all season you will have only $116 dollars to spend throughout the whole season, if you're dead last all season you get almost $300 to spend. It really helps to prevent teams from getting overpowered via broken waiver systems and means if you spend big on a player and he busts you'll get more money back if you continue to do bad.

I went big on 3 guys early, Tony Gonzales (good), Nate Washington (good), David Nelson (bad) and have only $7 now. My team is one of the best in the league though so I won't have much to spend for the rest of the year, but given all I really needed was a TE and WR depth (have Arod, Gore/Wells/Mathews, Mike Wallace) I'm OK with it.

Also Tyche I just saw you did the Jones and Maclin for White and DWill trade, good trade for both of you guys initially at least. Lots of unpredictable players involved in that deal but you each get stronger at weaker positions.

So I'm trying to move Cam Newton and Mike Williams(tb) off one of my teams asap. (I have ARodg and fck MWill so far) I offered a guy Cam+MWill for CJ1k and Cutler but he didn't take it because he would be stuck with Forte+Pierre Thomas at RB. I have Graham, Woodhead and Daniel Thomas as my back-ups but I doubt he would take Graham or Woodhead as an add-on(I wouldn't). Anyone think adding in DanielT for PierreT is a bad move? I don't know how Daniel will do the rest of the season and he seems to be injury prone and I kinda expect CJ to break out after this bye week personally. (TEN faces lots of weaker Ds the rest of the way and it seems like they are starting to get him more touches)

He has Sidney Rice, Colston and Maclin too but not sure if adding Daniel Thomas for one of them is any good and idk if I like any of them except Maclin. My WRs atm are VJax, Cruz, Gaffney, DHB, MWill. Turner is my #1 RB atm also.

Any advice on a trade offer or should I just hope Thomas stays healthy? He 4/5'd the trade and said the only reason he declined was he would be thin at RB.

i think that's more than solid for him. i'd rather roll with cam/forte/any number of rb's rather than being involved with cutler. i think you're already overpaying as essentially the deal is cam for cj, but adding in thomas is overdoing it. make him give you maclin for thomas and i'd definitely bite though. if nothing else works out and it's your last alternative, then in the end i'd still do it cause i don't like value rotting on my bench when it could have been used to upgrade my team.

The only other trades I see in my league is Cam/MWill for M.Ryan/Jennings or R.White and Cam/M.Will for Ryan Matthews/Rex or Kolb but that guy has JStew.DWill as his other RBs so I would probably have to add a RB there too and idk about Matthews health atm.

how does that work, exactly?

In the standard FAAB system, everyone starts with $100, and that lasts you the entire season. I don't like the idea of giving out extra money every week, it is too forgiving of people throwing their money around. In my league, for example, I have struggled with injuries and RB depth, so I dropped $32 to get Torain last week. This was a huge risk as this was 1/3 of my money for the entire year, but at 1-4 I don't really have time to sit around and wait. The people at the top of the standings can be more conservative and save some money for big pickups come fantasy playoff time.

Ryan Torain vs. PHI
Santonio Holmes vs. MIA
Jordy Nelson vs. STL
Marques Colston @ TB

I like Colston and Torain. Colston had a solid game last week and as long as Hightower isn't announced as the starter I would have to think Torain gets more carries as well as he played last week. Always risky with Shanny though, of course.

Holmes really hasn't been that great. If you don't want to play Torain in the flex, I would go with Nelson.

Santonio for sure. He's the only one that's THE #1 WR on his team. Everyone is a #1 in NO and Jordy isn't even on the field for a majority of the Packers' offensive snaps.

As for flex, you have to wait until we hear more about Hightower's shoulder later in the week.

Being the "#1" isn't really relevant if the targets or performance don't back it up. Jimmy Graham is the #1 in NO.

interesting system. is it offered on yahoo too? gotta try it out next time. also, i think i'd have more fun with the version that adds money throughout the season based on your ranking, though. i have too much fun adding players, heh.

anyway just traded sproles/jordy nelson for mike wallace in one of my leagues. i'm 1-4 and i've lost every single time i think i'm gonna blow out the other guy.

not including k/dst, my lineup sunday will be stafford/calvin/austin/wallace/dmc/torain/gresham. his team is basically brady/welker/mccoy, couple scrubs and 2 players on bye.

i'm getting destroyed on sunday, aren't i?

Way too much going on that I actually forgot I was in a BG league. After Manning/Charles were on IR basically week 1, I turned it off. Hey, looks like drafting AJ Green was a solid late decision though.

Doing awesome in all my other leagues, and somehow winning with my last player every week in my big money league with Serif.

we had a guy do that in week 2, cuz charles was one of his 2 keepers. Now his other keeper, andre is hurt. He left in baltimore DEF on bye this past week. Good thing he played the best team in the league, he only lost 128-48
