I don't get it either, Vick was never considered injury prone before(even after the broken leg) but people seem to think he is injury prone now because he got destroyed by two Skins last year. Also, Vick was 25ppg last year avg, (300/12), so if he is even close to last year you have a huge advantage for any games he does play. It could be a gamble but the upside is pretty huge, he has 7ppg more than anyone else in the league. If you also consider that it's somewhat rare for anyone in the top ten picks to even get 18ppg, I think Vick #1 overall is pretty simple actually. Only 4 players hit 18ppg avg last year and I'm not sure any of them were picked in the top ten in my league; Rodgers, Brady, Foster and Vick, who did it with 6 less games, with the closest RB at 14.5ppg(AP). There is a risk of injury with any pick but if you consider Vick was 25ppg and the #1 overall was 14.5ppg, that's a pretty big difference. I'm sure nobody questioned picking Brady after he set a TD record but what happened to him the year after? Even if you factor in taking a second round RB at around 12ppg I think Vick more then makes up for it.
14.5ppg RB + 17ppg QB
25ppg QB + 12ppg RB
Still a potential +6ppg difference. there are plenty of serviceable RBs and as long as you draft smart I think taking Vick has an incredible upside. I could be a little jaded though as I have Vick on both of my teams. Got him in the second round once and decided to take him #4 overall because AP, Rice and Rodgers had all been taken, who are the only players I felt were viable options other then Vick at #4.
All based on standard scoring and I will add that my leagues are 12 man and not 20 but I still think Vick's upside is pretty huge and other then one freak leg break and getting sandwiched by two hard hitters last year, Vick has played in 15-16 games every year.
Glad someone else knows what's up. No one is denying the risk inherent with a running QB, but you don't see people shying away from Jaaaaaash Freeman. And when the upside is 25 FPPG, I think it's worth it.
It's cool, just wait until you realize you're picking either your #2 wr or rb 97th overall, from guys like McGahee and Sproles... and the #2 in the other position is coming AFTER that.
That's, of course, provided you're not hoping for a top 100 tight end.
Meanwhile Orton, Flacco, Fitz, and others will still be hanging around like 40-50 picks later.
Nobody's saying Vick is "injury-prone", just that he's very vulnerable to injury, and he does, in fact, wear down during the fantasy playoffs quite consistently.
I lol'd.
Just had an auto-draft run in a friendly league (my girlfriend's family.) 12-man, PPR, had the 10th pick, I pre-ranked:
Spoiler: show
so much power breggies
Spoiler: show
I guess it's "ok." I wasn't paying attention to the last half of the draft, so I wound up just picking whatever I saw when I heard the 10 countdown thing because I got distracted doing something <_<
The entire Washington backfield... You knew what time the draft started. You should have masturbated well before.
we gotta make sure we get all the second round in before the draft wed. 8 more picks, on zeb right now who i believe is fapping in the FoD thread
it actually doesn't matter, the draft will start wherever we leave off, but yeah it would be nice
pm'ing him now
Gdi I thought Draft was today so I ran home to get here in time...
fucking peyton manning. I hate being forced into a player because they fall to you -.-
neck better heal
Is there any more power left for me to take in 5 picks?
