I like Jahvid Best more than a couple of consensus top 10 backs, but I'm not drafting his ass top 10, and if you did, you're dumb as hell.
If you don't think Maclin will be available with your next pick it would be dumb not to. Your amazingly simpleminded view of a reach is silly. If you are reaching by 6 picks or so, it doesn't matter. Get the guy you want. It should go without saying that a multiple-round reach is retarded. Stop straw-manning.

Consistency and "safety" of picks is built in heavily to rankings. If you think a guy with a ton of potential is going to deliver, you take him over the ho-hum consistent guy.

I take that back, just because you're the highest scorer doesn't make you #1, the exception to the rule is injury risk. AD has never been the overall #1 fantasy back, but he's always top 5 and never hurt.

Make your point more clear instead of validating it in a later post before you call me out for straw manning. We're looking at ADPs of top 20 (nicks) vs an ADP of over 60 (Maclin). Try again.

    lol so clueless...

what you can expect from a receiver in fantasy varies wildly with what position they're playing, it's important to be aware of what you're getting

calling smiles a #1 because he scored more points last year is just retarded, the only way he even gets as many targets this year as last is if Dez explodes and draws all kinds of coverage

this is so dumb. if you prefer maclin over nicks, then you are fucking stupid, end of story

I agree with you in terms of an online draft. Since it's hard or sometimes impossible to trade picks, you just have to pick the guy you think will score the most, rankings be damned. If picks can be traded or you do your draft in person, then it's a little different.

But the "he could score more so it's not lopsided" argument is pretty weak. The only thing we have to assign value to players is rankings and a handful of meaningless exhibition games, so yeah it does make a difference when every list or expert out there likes Nicks a lot more than Maclin, and that was pre-illness.

Yeah, I kinda forgot about his sickness before I proposed the trade. His conditioning is supposedly "ok" or something, meh. We'll see.

As far as Manningham, with Nicks or Smith missing, he averages over 85 yards a game and a TD. He has, statistically speaking, the weakest CB matchup of any #2 in the league.
The rookie, who hadn't played football in over a year, sat out most of training camp injured, and then proceeded to outperform the #1 WR from the #3 spot in 2 games with a backup under center? He will have a better year than Austin this year.

I'm calling him #1 because Dez did nothing last season, he wasn't even close to the best rookie. I'm not saying that Austin will have as good of a season as last year, I'm saying he's still the #1. Someone with less than 75 career catches and less than what, 750 yards? and a single 100 yard game doesn't inherit that position from someone who has done it consistently over the past couple seasons. I'm not saying Dez doesn't have upside, I'm saying he's not the #1, and he's not.

Do you think the Coaches are going to make more of an effort to get the Ball in Dez's hands, or Miles hands? I think the former.

So, Dez outperformed Miles in TWO whole games with a backup QB. What was Miles' average with Romo under center...entertain me, I want to know.

Sorry, I thought it was obvious I wouldn't advocate taking a guy if he will still be available in the next round. That is the most basic of draft logic. If you honestly thought that was what I was advocating, then I apologize for not being more clear.

We still went way off topic, since the draft had long been over when this trade was made. Once the draft is over, what happened during it(what rounds guys went, etc.) is moot. You try to improve your team any way you can.

I don't understand how you want me to compare a rookie WR who knows nothing about the playbook, and plays behind 3 former pro bowlers. It took him a bit to get on, and now he has. He's going to have a better season that austin. Can we put money in this?

Please keep in mind, "rankings be damned" means: if you really want a guy and he will likely be gone by your next pick, you take him. I wouldn't advocate taking Tebow in the first round to some Jesus freak in Colorado just because he is the one guy they must have.

We need to reestablish what we are even arguing. My whole argument was that the trade was fair(or at least fair enough not to veto) because it is conceivable for Jones to outscore Greene and Maclin to outscore Nicks. I'm still not seeing where expert rankings are relevant to this argument.

Dez Bryant played 12 games, smiles 16. so 75%

Dez had 45 catches, smiles had 69. so 65%

Dez had 600 yards, smiles had 1k. 60%

Dez scored 1 less receiving td in 4 less games, and had 2 return td's as well.

So, yardage and receptions a tiny bit behind vs amount of games played, for a rookie, who was on IR because of a broken bone, that came in late and blah blah blah... all while scoring more td's.

Yeap, Austin is a clear #1.
