I'd be down for BGE also, making the playoffs in 20-man has to count for something.

Status update on BGP? Top 6 returners and top 3 from each of BGE and BGW, correct?

I have decided to open up a second league using my custom scoring system heavily debated in last year's FF thread, anyone from BG is free to join and there is no buy-in, all I ask is you try to update your team each week. There will be a live draft on Friday August 26th at 9PM EST / 6PM PST. If you're not going to attend the draft don't sign up. Tyche and Gad play in my money league and have for several seasons now.

    http://www.fleaflicker.com/nfl/leagu...62&invite=true

    Much debated scoring system:
    Spoiler: show

    http://trappedfan.com/wp-content/upl.../ffscoring.png

(text below copied from last year's thread)

Passing:The point of the passing scoring system is to reward the good quarterbacks and punish the bad ones. How many offense in the NFL are successful with a crappy QB? Not many. It should be the same in fantasy. If your completion % is high your team -usually- will put up some points (there are some exceptions). Also the INT penalty is fairly steep so it helps to penalize some accurate guys who make big mistakes... turnovers kill teams in real life and they should in fantasy as well. People have scored 50+ points with their QBs before, other more than -10. Jamarcus averaged -3 ppg in 2009.

Rushing:Running for 2 yards per carry isn't helping your team and you shouldn't be given a bonus for it... so for anything under 2ypc you lose points and anything over you gain points. I also scaled the rushing yards by position because WRs especially are known for having a stupidly high ypc thanks to reverses and trick plays.

Receiving:I used to have a yards per catch system but I scraped it in favor of a minuscule ppc system. To add value to TEs they get 1 points for every 3 catches whereas RB/WR gets 1 point for every 4. TEs also get 1 point for every 7 yards gained, WR/RB it's 1 point for every 8.

Kicking:I fucking hate kickers and fantasy and think they are so random, but I've finally figured out a decent way to score them. Essentially the longer the field goal, the more points your kicker receives for kicking it and the less the penalty he has for missing it. If he a kicks a 55 yard FG and makes it., he gets 5.5 points. If he misses, he only loses 0.5 points. On the other hand, if he makes a 25 yard FG, he only gets 2.5 points and if he misses it's -3.5 points. XPs are worthless imo and are only .25 points. Kicking 4 XP shouldn't hold the same value as scoring a passing TD, that's just retarded.

Defense:The average number of offensive points allowed in the NFL per game as of 2009 is around 20. So I give each defense 19 points when they start the game and for each offensive point they allow they lose a point. They can gain points via sacks, turnovers, etc but like QBs it really separates the good defenses from the bad ones and places a high value on having a decent defense, just like in real football.

    ------------------

Here were the top 10 scorers in my league in 2009 (points per game):

    1. Chris Johnson - 30.7 ppg
    2. Drew Brees - 23.2
    3. Ray Rice - 22.8
    4. Adrian Peterson - 22.3
    5. MJD - 22.1
    6. Aaron Rodgers - 21.8
    7. Peyton Manning - 21
    8. Frank Gore - 20.9
    9. Matt Schaub - 19.9
    10. Phillip Rivers - 19.7

highest WR is Andre Johnson (17th), TE is Dallas Clark (29) and DEF is NYJ (34).

I'm in. Only comment I disagree with is the extra points, in that the kicker is kind of like a "team offense" to go along with the team defense. I find it a nice little bit of strategy to try to figure out which teams are going to make lots of pa's, fg's, or both.

    p. much. Set your roster up all pro like, then lose to Rob Bironas because the Titans can't score TDs? Yeah. Though I didn't actually lose that game where he kicked like 83 FGs, but seeing someone who did, and then didn't make the playoffs at the end.. giant kick in the balls.

Yeah, it sucks, but if your opponent won because they picked a team that scored 4 td and a couple field goals, it's not much difference than if you lost to a team that picked a defense that played the bears and won 17-3.

See to me Plow, and this is just my opinion, but kicker skill is better because the element of randomness is taken out of the equation as much as possible. Janikowski may play on a crappy team but that doesn't mean he's a terrible kicker and imagine even how many more games the Raiders would have lost without him. I've hated kickers ever since Gary Andersen and Jeff Wilkins devalued the position by being on powerful offenses but were mediocre at best kickers. There's still strategy in looking at matchups for kickers as they can net you 15+ points easily if they have a good day, which is around 10-15% of your total team score on average. So they can still change a game, but it's less about situation and more about actually being a good kicker thanks to the harsh negative penalties for missing easy kicks and the big gains for making long kicks.

I actually adopted my kicking scoring from a league member who suggested it a couple years ago and haven't looked back. In my opinion it's much better than what standard FF leagues do.

Also we need more people to join as its just Plow and I right now, I'm giving BG people first crack before I promote it on a couple other forums I frequent...

Oh, yeah, I agree with your general opinion on kickers, and I prefer kicker over actually choosing "team offense." I just like the bit of extra strategy in knowing that if you pick the Saints or Colts or whatever, you're going to have weeks where you get 4-5 points off extra points alone.

I have no problem with your decision on it, either, just giving my opinion.

I think kickers are still dumb because there are different ones at the top of the leaderboard every year. If anyone had any kind of clue, affecting your draft strategy, they would make more sense. Alas, they don't and you are best off picking a random one in the last round.

Regarding your scoring system for kickers, I don't like any negative points for kickers. Think about it in a risk/reward manner. Nobody wants to risk their kicker losing them a ton of points if they shank a short kick(or it gets blocked).

That's where some of the strategy comes into play - do you take the accurate kicker on a good special teams unit or the less accurate one who gets more attempts and/or is playing a team that gives up a lot of field goal opportunities? In past seasons some teams stick with the same kicker all year and other teams add/drop them on a weekly basis based on matchups, if that's your perspective then it's probably best to stick with a more consistent guy even if they don't get a lot of field goal attempts.

Also, there are only two spots left in the league: http://www.fleaflicker.com/nfl/leagu...62&invite=true

Plow. Still plan on doing the first few rounds of the 20 man draft offline? If so when do you plan on starting it?
