I read that list earlier, I thought the EVE ones were very over the top.
Those were all amazing, except for #2, but I guess it literally fit the title of the list.
is such an amazing quote. If MMORPG players were around when God said, "Let their be light" they'd have called the light gay, and plunged the universe back into darkness by squatting their nutsacks over it.
I was wondering why there wasn't more Second Life goodness (Ralph Pootawn!), or at least why the goonsquad raid on the Second Life interview wasn't #1 until I read the actual #1.
EVE Online is nonstop griefing of the highest order, isn't it?
I would have liked to have read about the Pandemonium Warden debacle a few years ago. Or maybe how SE denied they were hacked, and blamed the players for not being secure enough.
I feel sorry for these EVE players that spend months, even a year or more working at these scams. Sure, they're impressive, but shit, if you can work that hard in a game...
i'm quite surprised the power couple didn't make that list at all.
Only megaton-level drama I remember from BG (was never a part of KI so my perspective is quite limited) were things like Navvii QM'ing a ridill, Marx breaking alliance post-nid so a crybaby BRD couldn't get e.bd and random HNM CFH/holding drama. Doesn't really compare. Of course you could look at dick moves external to the game itself (e.g. ganiman taking the money and running, the continued adventures of Taj/Killuminati/RustyMetal) but such maneuvers only seemed to effect corporations rather than individual players.
Stuff like that is pretty normal in EvE. Company encourages cutthroat stuff - but gamers are so metagame that sometimes even the company gets to feel it
This so hard. That was an entertaining article as all hell. I kind of expected the WoW glitch where that one mob was hacked out of his dungeon and killed everyone in Stormwind (at least I think it was Stormwind) would have made the list, because that was pretty lawl.If MMORPG players were around when God said, "Let their be light" they'd have called the light gay, and plunged the universe back into darkness by squatting their nutsacks over it.
So what would be the top ones in FFXI? Lolsash and Taj's hacking spree would be pretty high up there.
The Wow infection one is pretty awesome, I've never heard of any of these before, so it was an interestingly funny read![]()
I just remembered this gem: http://vnboards.ign.com/AC_General_B...1/74408733/?16
tl;dr Guy duped himself unlimited amounts of cash in Star Wars Galaxies and SOE banned anybody he gave the duped cash to, but not the original exploiter. Subsequent in-game 'protests' were responded to when SOE shut down the servers the protests happened on. PA responded with this comic:
