This top 7 involved dick move by the players, not by the developper. That's why FFXI didnt make it.

Wall of justice is one of the few notable abuse, but at the same time, using the map topology to beat an encounter is the kind of you glitch you find in every mmo, and very often on high end monster.

If I remember right the very first AV kill didn't drop anything because it didn't have a loot table. AV was initially never meant to be killed, it was essentially a big Screw You to the player base and it was only after it was killed the first time that SE started all the bullshit of "You killed it wrong, we're nerfing that method", but they at least added a loot table to it.

EVE could be all 7 on that list if they wanted it to be, but my favorite EVE story isn't on there.

Years ago, before EVE hired an internal ... I dunno what its called ... person to prevent developers using alts to give themselves an advantage when they play at home there was an interesting incident. Basically they just invented EVE version of Vader's Super Star Destroyer with the Death Star's Superlaser as its main weapon ... except it was AOE and basically instakill. Anyway, the biggest corporation in the game managed to make the first one and ran around utterly pwning everyone and running the game like a giant space mafia (what else is new in EVE). Eventually their main competitor started to use their 1337 h4ck1ng skillz to trace the IP address and eventually home address of the person manning the flying deathmobile so that one of them could fly to Iceland (where the IP came from) and cut the phone lines to the house during a planned attack time, leaving him vulnerable.

Apparently though this never came to fruition, not because the person didn't have the balls to do it, but because someone else eventually cross checked the address, did some extra investigation, and eventually discovered that the ships pilot was actually a developer who broke company policy and cheated to give himself the ship. This same developer also cheated to give his corporation one of a kind crafting blueprints so they could have a monopoly and fund their mega empire. Eventually the dev was let go and CCP hired a specialist who monitors all developer accounts for wrong doing.

You'd have to narrow down the requirements, or every Dragon's Aery flail would count. If you just want it to be 'stupid decisions by SE that fucked over users' it would be easier to think of things. Off the top of my head:

- Nerfing every successful AV strat
- ATNM test
- CoP Tavnazia's time limit
- Pandemonium Warden 1.0

A 'dick moves other players did' would probably descend into Argument Over Botting #3,380,159 so I won't bother. We have a dedicated FFXI Media board for FFXI's cast of famous assholes.

There was a ??? right outside al zahbi and when someone finished their pandemonium pop set, they traded it to the ??? and a placeholder gob spawned with that name, and the pop set was wasted but later reimbursed.

SoE was dick in that story because they pulled the plug on the mob in a panic and straight up lied about it to save face. Figuring out how to kill something that isn't actually invincible is what MMORPG players do.

I remember years ago, and it wasn't just me, I would dc every time i entered like, half the zones in the game. SE said it was my internet provider, provider said it wasn't them. Couple weeks later, turns out it was SE's fault, i forget why though

Someone in this thread said they got their pop item back. As far as I know they didn't. I might be wrong though. ZNMs are just terrible across the board.

Yeah, they were pissed and were talking to GMs for a while after that mess. I had heard they had their pop set reimbursed back a week or two after it happened.
