    Computer Stalling on BIOS Screen

First off, I have a pre-made Dell XPS. Using it until I can pull the trigger on the pc I'm making in July. Anyway, I have had it for a bit over two years with no issues as I am pretty careful. This week, it has started stalling on the BIOS screen. Most of the time the BIOS loading bar goes full then it just sits there. Rarely it will stop around half way. However, there have been times where it starts up perfectly fine as well.

I need to keep using this computer in the interim, so I would like to fix it. No idea what causes this though, my Google-ing just shows it might be a motherboard issue. I can provide more details on the pc if needed, thanks.

Edit: It just gave me some message that said something about my previous attempts, then it just went to the Windows loading screen...

it could be a ton of things honestly but in my experience the first thing i'd check is the hdd. unplug the hdd and boot it a few times to see if it quickly gives you a missing boot device error or if it ever still stalls on the bios progress bar.

It's started up fine every time now, I am not sure what made it stop or if this is just a temporary thing.

I had/have (before building my current machine) a XPS 720. Dell machines are notorious (XPS especially) with having mobo issues. I originally bought a 710 new years ago, and had nothing but problems with it from the get go. I had it worked on so many times and expressed my dissatisfaction so many times, they replaced it with a 720. It was refurbished, but it ran great. Some days it would work, others it wouldn't. (the 710) Just try and hold out til you build your new one. I built my first ever PC last year. I will never buy prefab again. It saves tons of money, and if you have an issue with it you can RMA one piece as opposed to the whole damn PC.

Think I figured this out. Did some googling and found out that my model had this issue because of a bios issue. Updated it and it hasn't done it since, and was labeled as one of the exact fixes in the description. Won't matter on Friday though.. lol.

    I hate you Dell.
