Arabs in Israel are not immigrants. They are the Arab population left over from the 1948 War. In the originally planned Jewish State, according to the Partition Plan, there were roughly equal numbers of Jews and Arabs. The Israeli Arabs lived under martial law in Israel until 1966.

There is no question, that they are discriminated against and their political parties are nothing more than an example of tokenism. Israel and it's supporters often like to stress the fact that Israeli Arabs would be treated worse in other parts of the Arab world.

This implies that these Arabs would be living in Saudi Arabia. They don't though. They are from Palestine and there is a rich history of Palestinian society before the Zionist movement. There is a rich history AFTER the Zionist movement and prior to the foundation of the Israeli State.

There are plenty of pictures that show that these people were civilized. They had their own form of government. They had culture and an economy, Etc. ('Before their Diaspora' is a picture-history of Palestine prior to the Nakba).

I forgot to add that, while I feel strongly about this issue - it does not mean I have to join the armed struggle or even be on one of the flotillas. I'll set aside the equivalency, the racist douchebag is making between non-violent and/or self-less activism and solidarity and armed struggle (whether it be romanticized or terrorism).

We all can't help. We have lives of our own. I'm 26 and trying to become a doctor. I don't know where my politics will take me. I wish I could do more, but I do feel the situation is a hopeless. Since I have money, I donate to various charity groups. I contribute to Mondoweiss because I think it's the best place to talk about the issue and get informed. In college, I was part of a solidarity group. I donated to the first flotilla.

None of this to me is meaningful. It's simply what I've done. I think I'm in the majority as well (semi-apathetic/jaded/busy with their own life). People can use their vote as a form of activism. People can talk, express their opinions. They can use their paycheck to send a message (unless it gets them thrown in jail for aiding terrorism). So on and so forth.

I say all this, keeping in mind that you really don't care what I do. You just want to de-legitimize my views because I'm not Israeli. I'm not Palestinian. I'm not a member of the armed struggle. My lack of ethnic credentials does not exclude me from having an opinion. We're all free enough here to read up on this conflict and form our own conclusions.

First of all, close to HALF of Israeli youth voted in favor of revoking basic rights for Arab-Israeli citizens.

If you are interpreting the results of the report solely on the one question (whether Israeli youth felt hatred when they heard Arabic spoken), then let's not go any further. I'm getting tired of the constant stream of fail you keep pouring into this thread.

And there have actually been studies comparing views of Palestinian youths to their Israeli counterparts. Or maybe it was Israeli Arab youth. In any case, why don't you FIND those numbers yourself. You're quick to imply they would be greater without actually providing evidence (Plow not providing evidence? Shocking!)

And if it wasn't clear after I stated it repeatedly on the previous page, the poll in question is concerning the attitudes of Israeli youth toward THEIR FELLOW citizens - the Israeli Arabs.
