Google+ to require that profiles be visible to all, will boot private profiles after July 31st

Just leave your profile "searchable" (aka public), and leave your gender and name public, and make everything else limited to your circles. You can then "view as public" to see what your profile looks like (make sure to click through the tabs to see your whole profile). It should be a blank page with your name, default profile photo, and gender, and nothing else.

Make sure to always limit your posts to at least 1 circle. Any posts without circle limitations are public posts ala twitter, that can be read by anyone following you, even if you're not following them.

I was able to get mine fairly locked down and still have it "public". Which just means they want people able to find your profile, but not see whats in it.

If everyone has this attitude nobody would do anything, haha. I am going to be moving my activity to plus for now on and leave my facebook inactive for the most part. If my friends and family want to keep in touch they know where to find me. On the better site.

You're right in a way, but the fact that G+ is still in beta form does make it pointless from a social networking standpoint. Once it's open to the public more of us will be interested.
