=(
But who will keep us entertained on vent? Last CBT was just not as good as the one before it because you weren't there!
I'll still play. Maybe roll a bunch of random classes just to try them out. I was tempted to make a Slayer to see how they play, but I made a Berserker to see how much different it was to play without the horrible latency. I had NO idea that the attacks had a charge bar.... They're so much better than when I played on the JP server. I'm still torn on what to make come launch. There are so many fun an interesting looking classes. Must.. play them all.
And maybe by the time you hit Priest there will be new classes available!
I am really hoping for longevity with this game. So far nothing has been able to keep me hooked like FFXI. *crosses fingers*
Usually I lose interest in new MMOs due to lack of content because they're still fresh on the market. Being a one year old game that's had time to flesh out, and it seems it has done so relatively speaking, hopefully I don't encounter this problem with TERA. It is an incredibly fun game to play, and I do enjoy the smaller groups that you use to do end game content and whatnot as compared to 12~36 people in other MMOs. It gives a more grandiose feeling of power and accomplishment to take down the giant world eating boss with 5 people rather than 3 alliances of 12 or more that are relatively weak.
Honestly the element that gave me the most interest in Korean and still captivates me is just how different the combat is (That isn't to say I don't love many of the other elements, because the design and etc are just wonderful and only add to my interest in the game as a whole). Doing combo's on slayer and knocking the mob around like a rag doll and running like a mad-man on Sorcerer after a big crit is just a breath of fresh air that the mmo genre really needed in my opinion.
It gives me hope for captivating my interest for years to come, but only time will tell.
I do love the pvp with berserker.. it may be slow.. but it sure can tank.. and just a hit or 2 and your gonna be "Oh shit"
Was kinda fun fighting a priest.. he's like yup... I can heal any hit you do to me this fight will never end!
Lethal strike 6K -> he jumps -> leaping strike -> cyclone 6K + knockdown -> flatten 14K -> down in 6-7 seconds >.>
I also love Berserkers in pvp, so much fun to kill.
Last day of CBT4 I was leveling my Aman Berserker. Was only level 12 when I got jumped while fighting some quest mobs. I had thought that they were high levels ganking lowbies like normal, so when I saw red I just assumed I'd die in one hit. To my surprise, they weren't. They were both level 12 as well; a Priest and Sorc. Was a little late by the time I got to react(they had gotten a few hits on me), but the Priest let me walk right up to him and with one ability I took half his health.
Was a shame. Had I not been fighting one of the saber cats and noticed their level sooner, I probably would have atleast killed one of them before I died. Think the Priest was around 40% health when I went down. Low level Berserker doesn't have much in the ways of catching ranged, and if one of them has a snare... shit sucks man.
The fact Tera is lowman friendly is one of it's main appeals for me too, having got the taste for lowman content with Abyssea it's one of the main things I'm looking for in a new MMO now. The fact it has a really fun battle system and looks absolutely gorgeous help too of course, as shallow as it sounds I think the look of the characters actually is one of the reasons I tend to stick with a game long term..and Tera sure does have some nice character designs O.O
Don't know if anyone already posted this, but they finally put an exact time frame for when early name reservation/server choice will be open for people to make their characters.
Character Name Reservation (Pre-Orders Only) Dates wrong, yo!
http://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/...mtKVWs%3D#When
So we will get to log in on those days, take however much time we want to create and name our characters, but not play until the OB starts. Sounds good to me. I can take 2 hours if I want, fidgeting with the sliders til I get everything perfect. Heck, I could even delete and remake in the amount of time given. I like the no pressure of logging in to game as fast as possible like my first CBT where I kind of rushed things to get in game faster.
Wonder how many people are going to be level capped going into the pre-order head start.
The dates from that link Eddard posted concerning open beta are mind fucking me. Am I missing something or did they just get dates wrong?
@Shidobu: No problem.
@Eddard: No rage at all; I think it'd be cool to offer two types of Elin, but I have no rancor against the kiddy bunnies.
@Gulk: I never would have imagined you to have limits, but hey, I learn something new every day.
Made a temp sticky for this, thanks.
Also: something with the dates/days listed is messed up though
i.e.:
Character Name Reservation (Pre-Orders Only) Tuesday 4/13/12 (7pm PST) - Tuesday 4/17/12 (10am PST)
Open Beta (Pre-Orders Only) Thursday 4/19/12 - Sunday 4/20/12
Open Beta (Everyone) Thursday 4/20/12 - Sunday 4/23/12
Head Start (Pre-Orders Only) Saturday 4/28/12 - Tuesday 5/1/12
So not sure if, for example, char name reserve starts on TUESDAY or does it start on the 13th (which is a FRIDAY?)
Sorry I directly copied it from their website. It should be 4/10-4/17 if I'm not mistaken. Starting at 7pm PDT on 4/10 and ending at 10am 4/17.
Disregard. They apparently have changed or were misinformed previously. It is indeed Friday 13th @7pm PDT
