This just reminds me of my first time playing RO. Leave the starting area, get to the main city of prontera, pick up my job change quest and walk outside to see the world and....

Would be interesting if the rifts that spew these monsters real are controlled by the player like RO's dead branch summoning of high end monsters.

Hahaha, I totally remember that! Ahhh good times... walk out into the world, everything's fresh and new~ and BOOM! 5000 bosses trample you and everyone else to death.

Anyone else watch Criminal Minds? I thought one of the Castanic guys on Island of Dawn sounded just like David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).

You can definitely change the voices if you dislike the default English voiceovers to Korean or Japanese. Just dig around here: http://tera-mods.blogspot.com/. The Koreans voices are pretty good; shame I can't say the same for the Japanese version outside of a select few (Samuel being voiced by Wakamoto).

The BG Mods/Media subforum probably has the voicepacks somewhere as well.

I'm gonna check out the beta with the keys game spot is giving out. My biggest worry about this game (other than the half naked children) is that it is already well established. Will it be like starting wow or ffxi today for the first time? As in, there is tons of content and expanded talents/crafts and established class norms that wouldn't be obvious to nubs? Not to mention the economy, will that all be reset for NA/EU servers at launch? Being an Asian game, there will no doubt be a flood of veteran rmt to dominate the ah immidiately.

NA and EU release are separate servers, from the KR or JP versions, so nothing, above, is relevant. Come Open Beta, everyone is on the same footing, aside from a short head start, by per-order customers.

people that have been doing beta.. will be decently far ahead.. once they go through head start for sure since they know what to do O_o
(especially the people that played the korean version)

I think I'm learning something new about the game per beta... I'm sure still missing some stuff, as 3 days isn't too much time to learn all the things (mainly the non class stuff from badge vendors, to gems and questing)

I'm with you on that... I was hoping to make a character for ECC then make one of my secondary characters for OBT... sad days ahead ; ;

I was wondering the downfalls of being able to use the same name on any character you make on your account. The mail system seems to be the only one I can think of.

To be fair, anyone who was into FFXI for years (most if not all of us) will always miss that sense of a single character with multiple jobs.

It was shocking to me how many people abhor and completely detest the concept of multiple jobs on one character though... like.. some people have some serious hate towards the concept.

People's arguments against it are generally along the lines of...
- People will ninja all teh loot!
- People won't know how to play their jobs!
and crap like that...

I'm pretty sure each name will need to be unique. A nice feature of TERA is allowing periods in the name. So if I were to make multiple characters named Wenrick I would name my characters the following:
-Wenrick
-The.Venerable.Wenrick
-Wenrick.The.Just
-Wenrick.The.Chaste
-Wenrick.The.Not.So.Brave.As.Sir.Lancelot

Guess I won't be playing my main class until head start then; I want my reserved name, but don't want said name attached to my main character (for my own reasons).

Single character all jobs is nice since you can change on the fly and have all the nice gear you worked your ass off for, no matter what job you needed to switch to (job restriction on some gear of course). Everything about loot whore is out the window, since in games like Aion and Tera that iv recently played, people can break gold gear down to upgrade there own. So being a loot whore will exist be it (I need it since i leveled this job, to, I need it to +12 my weapon). With gear in games like tera customized so specifically to each job (with adjustments for better job specific stats appearing on gear) not sure the all job system would fair well unless games changed the way gear itself worked.

As for name registration Can I reserve my characters name prior to launch?

You sure can!

Starting on April 13th at 7:00 pm PDT (GMT -8:00) you will be able to create and name one character per account, and be ready to run with it from the open beta through launch and on to fame and glory in TERA. The character reservation period will conclude on April 17th at 10:00 am PDT (GMT -8:00) so make sure to reserve your character before time runs out!

I dont see the problem, pick the job/name/class you want to reserve and make it, then use the other slots (assuming we still get up to 3) to play what people need you as at the start of OBT/release. Has there been an official post that you are limited to 1 character for the entire open beta?

Yea, you only get one character slot in OBT, and since characters aren't wiped going from OBT to Headstart, even people who are only playing the beta with no intention of following over into retail can cockblock you on names.

Puts a damper on things, Im sure im not the only one who has multiple names they like to use and would like to reserve. Here is hoping the servers they have can handle more then one character per person and open up more character slots before open... I take it they are expecting some huge overflow of people wanting to play for free in open and restricted the number of players loading down the database.
