a little late but this just happened to me when I logged on, your items actually get posted to you that were on your retainer, as well as the gold that might have been on it, looks like I may have actually lost the retainer though

Can we only have one character or something on the JP beta? I was fucking around with the buttons and accidentallied myself a character that I don't want lol. If so, can anyone translate the delete process for me? I assume you have to type something like "Confirm Delete" in JP.

Char Select screen, middle button. A little window will pop up; type the name of the character and press enter. I did something similar... took a bit to figure out (with the help of warc)

Today is a big day for all of us, as we want to talk about our upcoming plans and the release schedule for TERA.

The last couple of months marked a huge step forward in the history of our company here at Frogster. At last year’s Gamescom we were able to give everyone in Europe, for the first time, the opportunity to play TERA. Since then a lot has happened. We had two Community Events, one huge Press event and several opportunities to show TERA to the media and you, our community.

You brought up some very important points and as we want to deliver the best possible experience, we decided to release TERA in spring 2012. TERA has received a lot of positive feedback, but we have some parts which still need changes, further additions and some parts where we need further testing and feedback.

Our intention is to bring you a true next generation MMORPG. We want to ensure that all kinds of players will feel perfectly at home in the western version of TERA and have a fun experience from start, to finish – however long of a time period that might entail. Just like you, we want TERA to be as enjoyable as it can be and have a long and prosperous life.

Let’s now talk about our plans for 2011 and 2012, the things you’ve been eagerly waiting for the past couple of weeks and months.

Later this year we’re planning to start our alpha test session for TERA. In case you’re wondering, so far we only had one test session with a small amount of handpicked community members from Europe in March/April of this year. During these upcoming sessions we’ll test out different PvP settings, the overall level progression, gather new quest feedback and begin the first real test for our new account management system. More details about the alpha test will be revealed when we get closer to the test date. The feedback we receive from you will be really important in order for us to test the background systems, account management system, TERA’s PvP, quest changes and other important additions since our last test.

Once we have worked through this feedback and included certain details into the game, we’ll be taking our next big step; the TERA beta. The start of the beta is planned for early 2012. The beta will allow us to invite a higher amount of players and to stress test our hardware setup in the final stages. With the huge amount of players taking part in those tests, we’ll also get valuable feedback on many different connections and hardware setups on your side. This way we can ensure that we are prepared for the best possible launch of TERA in spring 2012!

So to sums things up for you: We’ll be inviting different kind of player types later this year for our alpha tests of TERA. Early 2012 we’ll start with our beta test and invite more people to stress test the systems. In spring 2012 we’ll launch TERA in Europe.

Our main goal remains the same: release TERA with an extensive feature-set for everyone, catering to players who love to craft, explore the world, enjoy PvE and run dungeons or focus on PvP. With the additional time now at hand, we can ensure that we will bring you the best possible experience with enough unique features and a varied endgame.

    NA got some similar shit
Producer Letter - Launch Timing Update

Hello TERA faithful! My name is Chris “Chager” Hager, and I’m the North American producer for TERA. I’ve got some exciting news to share today about what we’ve been up to this year so far, as well as what we’ll be doing for the rest of 2011 and 2012.

TERA has had a busy 2011, and the year's barely half over! After successful showings at CES and GDC, we unveiled the game's political system at E3, where we received several awards and even more nominations.

The big news I’ll be sharing today is our launch timing! That’s right folks, we are ramping up for a spring 2012 launch date. Our focus has always been on launching TERA when it’s ready, so you can take heart knowing that we feel we’re getting close enough to announce our launch window. Let me explain, in further detail, what we’ll be doing between now and spring 2012.

Later this year we will begin our alpha testing. For those who aren’t yet familiar with this term, alpha testing is essentially small-scale testing with people outside the company, with the goal of collecting feedback on specific game features. An alpha test has the added benefit of allowing our internal teams to practice running a game in a “live” environment, so when the beta phase starts in early 2012, TERA will be operating like a well-oiled machine.

During our alpha, we'll test PvP server settings, overall progression, quest feedback, BAM (big-ass monster) fights, our brand new platform (account management), and a lot of other things that we’ll talk about in greater detail later this year. In addition to testing new systems and Western features, we’ll also fine-tune existing systems with our players in mind. Once all of these systems are in place, it's important to us that we get user feedback prior to our beta phase.

“Wait, did you say beta in early 2012?” Why yes, yes I did. Once we complete the alpha phase, we'll incorporate that feedback into the client, polish any new content, and then start beta testing early next year. Most of y’all are familiar with betas and how they work; for us, their main purpose is to expose greater numbers of players to TERA so they can experience the incredible action combat system, group up with some friends to take down a BAM or two, and in general enjoy a slice of TERA. We’ll announce specific dates and times for our beta testing when we get a little closer, but the culmination of those beta events will be a launch for TERA in the spring of 2012!

So what does all of this mean for you? We’ll be allowing a few select players to enter our alpha test later this year, and we'll open the door even wider in early 2012 with our beta testing. For details on both of these initiatives, as well as more about the features we’ll be implementing and testing, stop by www.TERA-online.com. As we’ve been discussing the details behind the alpha plan here at En Masse this past week, the excitement has grown palpable! We feel we’re on the right path to deliver a truly epic game to our players and fans.

    Thanks!

Wow, just wow. I won't begin to claim to know how BHS is managing the release over here, but this is the 2nd time they've had a "solid" release year posted only to push that back. You just can't do that to fans and not expect fucking explosive backlash, rage and desertion.

As Tsb said, I can't even imagine the insane shit storm that will erupt on the official forums. It will be of epic proportions.

On the bright side, I suppose, looks like I've got some 'alpha' testing to do later this year, wee?

lol officials pretty much consist of CEPs/FGTs sucking up
Looking forward to this, I wonder how they will pick the small Alpha team, hopefully choosing people from FGT1, FGT2, and the community play, so that means me
    vs everyone else with
What the hell have you been doing all this time then? Posting bestiary pictures and making up small bits of lore is not so complicated.

the officials finally just got good

If any of those FGTers weren't complete idiots, they'd know that they are already accepted for alpha testing, its only been said every single test since #1.

Also, this can't be good for Tera's future, it just can't be. I haven't been following the release dates of games like SW:TOR, GW2 or D3 too closely. but I know enough that Tera will now suffer greatly from their direct competition. Those 3 games alone are coming from industry giants, with proven track records. Wtf BHS seriously?

Not to mention, why should I/we believe anything in this bullshit announcement anyway? Just months ago we had the same type of announcement saying there would be all this testing etc happening THIS year, with a release this year. They say "spring" release now? Bullshit I say. It's obvious they'll release it whenever the fuck they want to. Putting any sort of time frame; seasonal or quarterly otherwise, is just futile.

Yes, I am raging slightly over this. I've been following this for too long to once again be spoon fed the same crap. This game is fantastic, but if they don't manage this right it won't be around for anyone to play.

It is true that Tera is widely considered to be a piece of crap in Korea so probably think that greatly delaying it they will have a greater chance of success in foreighn markets. I know there was supposed to be some large scale updates that trickled into 2012 so they want to get that in there before they even consider bringing the game here.

Not releasing in 2011 is pretty fail and risky of them.

Oh my. This is a very risky move by EME. The drama over on the official forums is quite...something. This move is definitely going to cost them some subs. The MMO space is already becoming quite crowded. As for myself, this game was on my radar but not anymore. Maybe I'll remember to follow up next spring?

Releasing the game anytime soon = fail in NA. Only people who don't play K-TERA apparently still don't understand this.

New class, 60 cap, and continent is planned for first quarter release in K-TERA, along with the alliance PVP/PVE, and server raiding they have been working on, and EME is launching with what's out in Korea at the time so it's all good.

^ you speak from knowledge and love of the game though. Even in its k tera state its fun and you enjoy it. I don't disagree that a" fuller" game will do better here, I'm saying people just won't care to try it. They will be too busy with SW or GW2 or whatever new single/multi player game comes out (i'm picking up D3 and ME3, both due out when tera is). Your average player won't split up time or funds to try some "game that's been out in korea for a year" aion is still the generic k-mmo that the general population will think or tera as. Its incorrect but only a tiny handful will bother to research that.

Any NA folks using the JP beta grouping together on a specific server? I saw arun, then seren, but nothing conclusive.
