Well I am going to wait till the whole Collector's Edition settles into place, and pre-order tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

No ETA yet on when the official forums will be back up and running.

Can anyone shed some light on the political system? I gather that you can conquer a province through PvP or voting. How do you actually go about doing these things? Are there specific times for voting? What if one guild wins by voting, can another guild take it from them by PvP? Or vice versa?

Forums look nice but you cannot edit. Be careful (edit and double check because you cannot make changes once you click reply... for now).

Seems you cannot change anything in your profile in the meantime except select from 5 pre-made avatars.

The good news is that they are looking into adding in our in game characters as avatars in the future.

The only part of this rollout that seems lacking is their website. Lots of sections are under constructions. But I'm not really complaining, I'd rather they did this than delay it for a fully fleshed out site/forum. Forum will be useless anyway if the last one was any indication.

There are two ways for a guild to obtain a territory: You can win by popular vote, or you can win through PvP tournaments, and each territories can only be won via one method. I think both required an entry fee of about 30 million gold.. The territories are held for two or three weeks, and then there is a week taken to determine popular vote/PvP bracket winnings. They have an interface specifically for the Political system, and territory owning guilds are displayed, as well as a written summary provided by the guild about themselves and voting, for when that time comes. You also see the guild Icon when you zone into an owned territory.

From when I played, the only real benefit was the ability to turn on special NPC shops, which allowed you to set a tax rate, on the items bought/sold, so your guild would make a percentage of the money spent in that territory and the ability to turn their territory into a PvP area. Each guild also receives a flashy mount and the ability to do quests, which completing, gives you points to spend on the various abilities just mentioned. To me, it seemed the only real towns to hold were the lvl 58 territory town and the main starting town, as that's where most people were due to either game content or game NPC services. Really lacking, IMO, but they say they have more planned for it.

After a string of bad news for TERA I'm glad something is finally going right. Excited about all this new stuff, but I honestly want to try beta before deciding if I pick this up or not.

Though I am tempted to just buy it and see.

Sounds like it has a lot of potential. The only thing I don't like is the large entry fee, but I guess it does make it a lot more realistic.

Don't think it has anything to do with one's respect towards themselves. Most of the people there don't know what they're talking about and post for the sake of posting, but just because it's the official forums doesn't mean anything. There's plenty of people everywhere who don't know where they're standing, or what the fuck is going on when it comes to TERA.

No one's saying the majority of the posters there aren't fucking idiots. But you gotta realize that the majority of the people who know enough about TERA, along with the majority of the people who have but the slightest idea of what TERA is, posts on the official forums.

My attitude is the same. I will continue to dislike idiots. I just think you're confusing getting the world out with desperate acts of attention, and inviting everyone.

Maybe someone here can help me with this. I downloaded the Tera installer, and it installed the Tera Launcher on my pc. I run it, give it permission to modify my computer. Then nothing happens. I look under the task manager and it has a process running called Tera-launcher.exe *32 with 0% CPU usage, using up 11,296 k of memory. I left it up for a while and the memory usage dropped to ~2,000 but it didn't do anything.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit if that helps.

My launcher decides to work it it wants to as well. It's the TERA Invoker you're supposed to be launching though, not the one that actually says Launcher or ExLauncher(something like that).
