Indeed, our OBT is mostly so people have a chance to try out the game for free if they weren't able during the closed betas.
For preorders this is a rather pointless event.
In general I prefer how EME fares compared to Frogster, but I honestly believe that Frogster's more classical aproach to OBT is a better choice in the end. Their OBT launch has had few problems (I believe the french servers were initialy down for a bit) and even some of the lag spike problems we had during CBTs are gone aparently.
Not having to share the initial rush to headstart cap with freeloaders is a plus in my book.
EDIT: BTW, my friend and I will be rolling on Essenia (unless the headstart servers vary a lot from the current list). I have no current plans about joining or creating a guild, so if anyone goes ahead and creates a BG guild I'll probably apply to it with my friend.
Not good news on the EU side:

EU client getting extra censoring. Meh.
It's not a big deal, really. But it does mean that if a future patch from Korea is deemed too violent/sexy, they'd might have to censor that too, and then we have a problem.
There's already a second thing removed in the name of PEGI-12. Guild emblems.

Frogster is making our release a complete disaster... and with my ping, I really cannot play in the US.
Current plan: see where this crap goes and move on if frogster keeps screwing everything up.
^ Why on Earth is Frogster taking a M rated game (PEGI 18 i assume by EU standards) and trying to sell it as a game for preteens? (PEGI 12 by your post)
Heck if we know. Everyone thought that it was just the rating system having different standards and Frogster made it look like so (by saying numerous times they wouldn't censor anything that EME didn't).
However, their plans were different aparently.
And if this was just about the "lurid display" slider being forced set to 0 I wouldn't be so mad, after all we could just mod the hell out of the game anyway like people do with panties... but what else are they going to butcher next?
And what's worse, we're already seeing their incompetence with the guild emblems which have been literaly removed completely because of possible inapropiate content. This is really bad!
Ugh ._.;
I must assume that last minute changes on gameplay functionality due to a content rating is not something you'd call a disaster, based on your aparently incredulous inquiry.
Step in the right direction. We have read your feedback in this thread and have taken the issue forward, expect to hear from us soon.
We hope to reintroduce the guild emblems as fast as possible,

Fuck it, you can't be for real.
Because when someone aproaches me I can easily see what this person's guild is via the emblem instead of trying to read the damn blurry and tiny text under his name.
Because when I see a group of people close by I can easily recognize if they pertain to the same guild or not.
I don't know about you, but I'm playing on a pvp server and the faster I can locate my desired target the better.
If you're in a GvG it doesn't matter, his name will be red. If the text is blurry you need glasses.
I guess we have VERY different views on "gameplay breaking changes". As personally, I don't care too much, at least not enough to whine about it like the game got destroyed.
Only thing that got destroyed was my trust in this company, but the game is ok in itself.
You have to add the fact that this OBT client comes with quite a number of bugs (I assume these are on the US version too, but I don't know) including some really annoying chat bug that wipes out the box and messes the log when changing tabs, some graphical glitches that were not present before and other minor issues.
There's also some small gameplay changes I'm not too fond of, like the reduction of potion timers to 1 minute instead of 3 min, putting TERA dangerously close to a pot spamming asian MMO (not yet there though, but the safe margin has been severely reduced).
Add in that for the first time since betas started the EU client sees the introduction of the dreaded chat filter. Aparently now saying "Kumas" is censored and "Bittertongue" as in "Bittertongue staff" is also just as horrible. So now we see many item links censored as well as in game terms.
While the US had time to tweak the horribly draconian filter during all the CBTs, we ran all our CBTs without a filter and suddenly it makes its appearance... with no decent tweaks.
And if this wasn't enough, emblems get riped off the game and the blood option gets hardcoded to 0 after they said there would be no changes from the US client.
So if you take all of this into account, realize as well that the servers responsible for the instances have crashed twice already (once with a 4 hour downtime), I'm sure it's easy to label this as a disaster.
Had I been on the fence about this game, this would push me in the "No" direction clearly. Right now however I already paid for it (yes, I did ask if refunding was possible to know what alternatives I had. DLGamer said "not refundable") and will stick around to see where it ends up in hands of Frogster.
Well I don't agree with you, but I guess you also see this discussion as pointless so I'll just leave it after this post.
I think all of those changes are pretty minor, not sure I like the potion timer, but meh, what are you gonna do.
Especially the blood, who cares?
Believe me, I'm glad there's people that think like you and I sure hope there's more people that agree with you than with me. An MMO with a positive community is better and if everyone agreed with my negative point of view this game would be senteced in the EU.
About the blood: not really important (plus probably will be possible to mod back). It's more the principle of how this was done (deception) and the fear of what will come.
Anyway yes, moving on. Fingers crossed that everything goes smooth on headstart.
