Hey, If i ever miss that "Voidwatch" feeling, I can always farm Crystals in Theatrythm. Did a fight that drops Purple shards 8 Times, Killed the boss each fight 3 times, For those keeping track at home, that 24 Kills on this boss.

I'm still 7/8 For Purple Crystals.

I want to rip my fucking hair out, It wouldn't be so bad if i could just jump straight to the boss, but having to reply Mt. GULG every time makes my head hurt. I've played this Dark Note so much i've actually PERFECT/CRIT'd the Battle song (FF13 Ending Theme).

    Hrrng

Also, Karb, the "Scarlet guy" is a chick. I honestly thought it was Edgar at first, and then I went "wtf, she didn't have blonde hair in the game".

For anyone that's curious about farming shards too, certain ones only show up in certain level ranges. Not blanking out character names, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag just in case anyone cares.

    Spoiler: show

    Type: Levels
    A: 1-25
    B: 1-75
    C: 26-99
    D: 51-99

Character - Crystal color - Crystal type

    Princess Sarah - Gold - C
    Minwu - Silver - B
    Cid - Yellow - A
    Rydia - Green - B
    Kain - Navy - D
    Farris - Crimson - B
    Locke - Indigo - A
    Aerith - Red - B
    Sephiroth - Black - D
    Seifer - Grey - C
    Vivi - Orange - A
    Yuna - Turquoise - B
    Prishe - Purple - C
    Ashe - Scarlet - A
    Snow - White - C
    Cosmos - Rainbow - C

And yes, that does mean that if you over-level your characters too much, you can be locked out of getting Locke/Cid/Ashe/Vivi.

Easiest way to farm dark notes is deleting your newest, incomplete dark note, then running an old one with a party stacked with Libra, that averages out to the level range you want the dark note to be. With a full Libra group, you'll see 7/9 items when the dark note unlocks, and all three bosses (if you're looking for Ozma/Chaos/Shinryu/Omega for the trophy). Whenever you finish a dark note, the game checks if you have any incomplete notes, and if not it generates a new one based on the average level of the party that completed the previous one.

Helps to save a toooon of time farming shards.

Unless i miss read this list is wrong

Just did a note with lv 80 people and got Vivi and cid's shard which according to your list we can get between 1-25

Its the level of the note, not the level you do that party with. Each time a note is generated, its difficulty is based on the average level of your party you had that generated it. This is the No. The Mv. tells you what songs there are. First digit is field, second is battle. 0-9 each, 1 song represents 1 number, so there are 100 different dark notes possible.

So for me, I was farming chaos shrine a lot at lower levels and was generating a lot of lower level notes that were below lvl 25 and kept them all. I went back with a full lvl 99 party and wiped the floor with the enemies, getting 2-3 shards each time for notes I unlocked a long time ago, and got my category A folks easy.

Question - Any way to determine/Control what bosses you get during a Battle in Chaos Shrine? I generally end up with the same boss each time.

    Performance

It you suck in this field you get boss 1 if not 2-3

To get boss 2 in BMs you need to act semi bad until the 3rd monster

Do you mean on the dark note itself, or within the BMS section? If you mean on the note itself, then no, the three are picked randomly when the note is generated. There's a couple of them that're restricted to the 51-99 category though, Omega, Shinryu, and Ozma, off the top of my head, and Chaos can only show up on 99's.

If you mean inside of the BMS, it's like I said a couple pages back, and Rata echoed above me. Boss 1 requires having a party with low enough AGI and/or failing terribly on the FMS so that you never pass the Boss 2 or 3 sign, and Boss 2/3 are determined by if you do poorly/well before the third mob spawn in the BMS after passing the previously mentioned sign.

No. is the actual level of the dark note. Mv. just determines which songs are on it. The No. on the dark note itself (not the number it is in your order), is what you want to be looking at.

Honestly, I think Boss 2 is one of the worst things to have to farm. The game isn't really static about what it considers "bad enough", but it usually involves dropping down to around 1/3 health before the third mob, and on some of the higher level dark notes it's kind of brutal to have to force yourself down to that small of a margin of error for the rest of the song.

yeah, chaos shrine is the only place where the RPG elements really come into play. You need a fast runner (respective to the level of the dark note) to reach the sign, and you need good dps (also respective to dark note level) to kill mobs fast enough to reach the bosses. My setup usually has Zidane second in the lineup, so with higher level notes i'll purposefully trip my 1st in line to get Zidane out and just roll with him for the field stage.

Bartz is amazing for dark notes and farming. He's probably one of the better leads in the game.

Actually, each has 5 by default, if you include the beginning and ending sequences. Granted, those aren't really a challenge and you can skip em. lol

    FFXI songs are

    Awakening (Dynamis-Xarc)
    Ronfaure
    FFXI Theme (The lyrical version)

The Beginning/Ending songs are Vana'diel March 1 and 2. Vana'diel March can appear in Chaos shrine as a FMS too. That said, I have the Chocobo Song unlocked, through Rythmia... Mt. Gulg too. Just about everything is/can be unlocked (Outside of DLC).

    DLC FFXI Songs are

    Sarutabaruta
Warrior's of the Crystal (Arc Angel fight)
Sanctuary Of Zi'Tah (not out yet)
    Ragnarok (Not out yet)

I'm really waiting for Ragnarok man...

Hey now, its FFX's shiva, and technically in that game you could teach her to cast fire and fira with items!
