Paying people less is not the answer to poverty even if it means less unemployment. How can our economy sustain itself if the vast majority of the population will be unable to afford any luxuries?

the vast majority of the population doesn't make minimum wage, what the fuck lol

you're arguing from this magical fairy land where you can raise minimum wage and people will keep their jobs and the streets will be lined with gold! it doesn't work like that day, stop being stupid.

I've never even said raise minimum wage first of all. I said don't lower or remove it, nor did I say the vast majority of people are on minimum wage. I know that you WISH I was saying those things so that you could argue them some more, what I'm saying is people aren't making enough money vs. cost of goods any more. I know this is hard for you to grasp as you are wealthy, but I'm talking about people with decent jobs, still having a hard time paying all the bills. We've all seen gas and other goods skyrocket yet our wages have stayed the same. What can we do to even out the ratio? What happens when the situation gets worse and all people can afford are the bare essentials? All these retail business selling luxuries will fall with no customers. This is what I'm talking about... reality, not magical fairy land.

haha still working under the assumption that "data" is the truth. I can go out and do a survey to prove anything, I guess you would believe any "data" that comes along?

Any points you may or may not have are surely lost in your shitty attitude and superiority complex.
I don't have a solution but I am positive it doesn't involve lowering or removing minimum wage.

well, projecting is certainly one way to deal with opinions/numbers you don't like. ps, I agree with you that messing with the minimum wage would be stupid.

so provide the other data you're talking about, and something other than blog talking points. and stop dismissing economics, it's kind of like, how the world works. fox news sucks like pretty much all news channels, not sure what your point is there btw

I was pointing to the "free market will work it out" argument.

There is just a certain inconsistency that is created when: Certain widgets are made in America, sold at $10 and manufacturer is making a healthy profit. Manufacturer outsources the job, or has new machines that can do the job, at a lower cost. But the widget remains $10. While there is still demand for the $10 (partially because people are used to paying it) the people deserve to see the realization of that lower cost as well (not saying an equal reduction, but some to justify the lower cost to produce).

eh you know what, it's not worth is. I have pleadings to draft.

it doesn't take data to point out the fact that you just claimed people have the option to not work then verified in the very next sentence that you understand it's not an option

and your little graph is bullshit anyway, else nobody in china would be working

I very clearly said they don't have any other options if they want to work. if you're going to argue with me, argue with my points, not semantic bullshit. people in china have a lower equilibrium point as well, and the cost of living/government aid is very different over there. I'm shocked you would even bring this up when there's countless studies about the terrible things that happen when sweatshop labor is outlawed in frontier markets.

Scare tactics. I can't wait to lose my $25/hr job, and then have to get a cool construction job building railroad or roads in the 100+ weather cause some greedy fuck doesn't know what the fuck. Btw, I do have an electroni engineering degree in case someone pulls the education card.

It's not semantics when your argument is that raising pay will mean people won't be working so we should allow it to be lowered to the point that people won't be working.

Especially when the reality is that people are forced to work and will just be stuck doing the same thing for less money while you make more money convincing someone that you're upping productivity.

raising required pay means people get fired. if it goes too low, people won't work. that's the point - it can't be lowered to the point where people won't be working, because no one would be working. so it will never fall that low, or if it does, it will immediately rise; this is economic law. or, we get robots.

...you very clearly aren't subject to the minimum wage. or poverty. or lack of opportunities. sit down, your life experience has nothing to do with the groups we're talking about here lol
