Thanks. Seems like the older strategies are still relevant in this one. I'll see if I can swing a 3rd BLM for this as I'm sure that would help out tons. I just really don't want to waste nearly 100 seals on a time out

Turtle is really a pain we couldnt kill it with WHM RDM BLM SAM PLD SCH ( or maybe even 2x BLM).

I think SAM was starting SC to late (he was /thf and wanted to swift -> gekko instead rana > CDC) when Turtle was going to shell and when we finally changed strategy and started doing fast rana -> CDC we timed out.

It's really easy to fuck this up if you end up with it in shell and not ready SC. I suggest 3x BLM and melee it down and if he goes into shell start SC immediately and 3x MB should take it out then melee it till it goes to shell again and repeat. BRD would be great for requiem ( I heard it change its regen from 2% tic to 1% tic). BLM BLM BLM BRD DD DD WHM (Might be w/o WHM if you have ochain PLD or maybe if one of DD is DNC)

BLU 2x, RDM, and BLM 3x if well geared. If not, add more BLMs. Might be able to change RDM to BRD if the BLUs can land silence.

I believe I may try to do turtle last after getting beard and tongue, but to confirm:
Fafnir can drop the beard, but NQ behemoth and adamantoise cannot drop their bb items? It's been years since I killed him so I really do not remember.

None of the NQs drop their items anymore, and HQs no longer drop them 100%.

Would Formless Strikes and Tomahawk work if you wanted to go the melee route on turtle?

Formless really doesn't do a whole lot of damage. It's usually just enough for physical immune mobs or a bit more than what you'd do to something heavily resistant. 60-70 per hit versus 10-20 physical.

Edit: formless also lasts for 3 minutes with a 10 minute recast timer.

Heavy strike ignores both.

It doesn't ignore them 100% of the time, though. Im asking if there's a reason why.

As for KS99 Turtle, the last group I went with had a Soboro SAM and he was self SCing like twice a minute and the BLMs were tearing the turtle apart with MBs. The best part of that strategy is that the SAM is pretty unlikely to pull hate since he's using such a low damage GK, so might be able to skimp on healers. Obviously the more BLMs and Refreshers you can take, the better, but you could probably 3-4 man with a SAM, a healer, and 1-2 BLM.

No. Start with turtle since people usually do the turtle for BB. Those going for Heca Cap/Subligar/Armada Body/Ridill will probably offer the beard or free or a relatively cheaper fee. The same goes for people trying to get defending ring.

Didn't even think of that. Would make sense since only Aspid item is A body and almost everyone has a refresh body piece now.

Also that's some good advice on the soboro SAM. I don't think our SAM is rocking full +2, but it wouldn't take long to get now.

Hoping to go through some KS99s soon and only worried about Turtle. What's a safe estimate of people to take and recommended jobs?

Jobs available for at least 5 people that would go, thinking the first as what they'd most likely go as. (all jobs 90 unless otherwise specified)
1: MNK, BLM(78, though it's max merits)
2: THF, PLD
3: BRD, WAR
4: BLM, SAM, DRG
5: WHM... yeah, he's stuck with that job.
6: Well, I don't have a 6th, but I'm sure I could find someone. Thinking BLM here.

I just don't want a waste 99 KS due to a time out. Just all the strategies on Wiki and other sites all still point towards the 75 cap and bringing 14BLMs...

2 melees that can SC, a BLM and 2 WHM, all you need for a 18 minutes kill, don't silence it, the nukes are a joke and it boosts its regen.

Heh, I believe they also haven't copied all the JA/JT and Atma information over yet. I stopped policing it when rl got busy though, but a lot of the stuff on gamersescape/ffxiclopedia from the last update was just information lifted from bgwiki.

not sure where to post this so here goes:, how do i obtain pop items like Odious cup/die/mask in dynamis jeuno, everywhere i look it just say drops from xmob but after killing these mobs for 3 consecutive jeuno runs with a th6 thf i have yet to see 1 drop, is there a special trigger or something that is needed for these pop items to drop?

I witnessed a silly amount of random fail getting my adamantoise egg. Initially I got my orbs merc'd(which was a mistake). The first group failed with fudo sam ukon war sch blm rdm but they refunded my gils, but still out an orb. They wanted to try again but I said no thanks. Second group for merc failed on the first run as well with 3x blm and some other jobs, but they were close so I let them try again and they successfully did 5 of my orbs and one they donated to make up for lost but no egg dropped on any of them. They were also kind of enough to kill adamantoise but no HQ pop dropped either.

I then said screw it as I spent 5M on mercs and lost all my KS that should have gone to behemoth and decided to just pay for the egg directly.

I offered enough to have a guy put a shout group together and the fun began. The first run obviously was a failure.

Then the guy just AFK'd and ditched all 16 people he had dragged out there. Said something about "brb they're working on my internet" at 4 AM.

So I warped back and shouted and got another guy who put together a shout run for me. Eventually got egg from that group after about 7 more kills but obviously they failed the first orb with 6 blms 2 wars 2 sams 2 whms 1 rdm.
