Are you running Windows Vista or 7? If so try disabling UAC. If that doesn't work try logging in both accounts to POL before launching either of them into FFXI. If it still doesn't work I'm not sure what else to tell you sorry.
As for some more general multi-boxing observations.
I love my G15 keyboard. Using the g15binder plugin I can press M1G1 and the alias m1g1 is executed on all characters that are running and have the plugin loaded not just the screen in focus.
Here are some examples.
The m1g2 alias will stop the mules from autorunning or following.Code:alias m1g1 input /follow Bendak alias m1g2 setkey numpad7 down; wait .1; setkey numpad7 up; alias m1g3 input /heal
If you have one of the newer Logitech keyboards with the macro keys that doesn't work with the g15binder plugin try XI-Util from the Windower forums. It has plugins that are supposed to add support for the Logitech G510, G13 and possibly others.
XI-Util also has the functionality of multisend built in as one of it's plugins.
Also people who multibox have surely noticed that the chat logs will end up blending together and may blank or crash the game if you attempt to view them. XI-Util has a fix for that with it's Windower Sandbox Plugin. It only works with Vista and 7 using folder redirection and registry edits while launching separate Windowers.
In addition for convenience you can use the autoexec plugin to do things like have certain scripts run based on what character logged in and set your mules to auto accept party invites for your main.
