The comparison I'm thinking of is Twash/Oneiros vs Twash/Wind-Kila. Even with a 5% haste difference (20 vs 25) they should be dealing about the same damage due to aftermath and Oneiros's crit damage boost. Personally, I'd rather just take the evasion hit and do more damage. Even without capped evasion it's pretty easy to keep shadows up. Capped evasion simply means you can go ichi to ichi, saved ni for emergencies, and watch anime while fighting.

Can also add in AF+1 legs and that pretty much puts you at PDT cap.

Helm+Axes+SS+DG is definitely cap. Getting all the smaller 2-3% pieces are just stuff for outside.
Cap is 87.5% if you didn't know.

    Edit:
And yes, it's because you don't have a PDT set that your pets are dying so fast. When we first hit 90, we started doing the DG quest and the Pot NM in Grauberg was raping our pets. We kited it between pets. After we had our PDT+DG, we went back and killed it with zero problems. Just remember that for DG to take affect, the pet's HP already has to be below 50%. If it's at 51%, it's going to take full damage which in some cases has "one shot" our pets whereas it would have been laughable damage otherwise.

    Edit 2:
    I just remembered this thread:

Awesome, thanks for all the info

does anyone know if a sabiki rig give increased skillup rate when catching multiples?
i know it runs your fish count/fatigue up very fast, hoping it gives skillups to match and as long as ive been fishing, ive never tried

For Briareus, how long do I run away from after 1111? I'm usually out of range and don't see the messages go off

    Lol... XD

You dont need to even run out of engage range XD

If you want to be safe when you see 1111 ( I am usually watching my HP when he do Mercurial and not the chat log because its faster to notice it ) just run till you automatically disengage then stop. Let him run to you and when you see the animation of TP moves just move back a little ( it will start to do it from max range it can so to move outside of range you only need few steps back ) wait till he do it then let him run at you again and repeat.

It's really easy after 2-3 times to feel what range you need to avoid it. I can even easily melee a little between Slams but I'm usually on NIN so I am not risking much if I get hit by one.

The version update will include changes to the chat command "yell,” along with other fixes. The details of the version update will be announced separately on the day of the maintenance.

Does look like registration server maintenance like you said but seems some other things are being added. Was just confused I guess because its pretty vague.
Aeolian Edge is bugged at the moment. I looked for the recent posts on the matter (from 1-2 days ago?), but I can't find them. Maybe the coffee has yet to kick in - maybe the posts were nuked. I don't know. I'll side with paranoia and not explicitly describe the issue. Aeolian Edge isn't as broken as Cures vs. Undead were after the last update, but it's (kind of) in that ballpark.

EDIT: Also, it apparently looks like Abyssea VNMs are somewhat bugged. A poster in Media couldn't pop Lusca by /resting within 5 yalms of it.

Based on what? I've never fished to fatigue using a rig, but that sounds like a load of bullshit. Most people don't understand how fatigue works and think all sorts of stupid shit like "oh, you can only catch X of this particular fish per day because it's so hard to catch," where X is less than 200 or that zoning fixes it. Unless you heard it from someone who's parsed it and is timing their delay (capped fish for the day puts you at about an 8-8.5 second cast delay if I remember correctly), I wouldn't trust them.

A catch should be a catch in terms of skillups.

I can't really understand what part of his post you're replying to but:
A)SE update notes do say that fishing multiples fatigues you faster, but not as much as if you were to catch the same amount of fish individually(sketchy on the details about the amount of fatigue, I can't remember perfectly)
B)There is zone fatigue but it has nothing to do with your catch/day limit

Also I can't imagine that using a rig and catching multiples would allow you multiple skillups, you can already skillup fishing fast as shit. Last time I did it I was literally getting 6+ levels per day up to level 50 then 4+ up to 85. Yeah I know it's hard to believe that isn't bullshit but it's true.

What text do I need to put in my chatmon for it to trigger on partial parts of my name?

If for instance, I was on a crafting mule named Mulewood, if someone said "mule" or "wood" in ls chat, I would get the "somebody is talking about you" message

I didn't do anything special. Burned through 2 pelican rings, using 1 at a time. Nashmau from 0 to 40 with robber rig, talacca from 40 to 80 with shrimp lure. Up til about 38 I was getting 7, sometimes 8(!) levels a day. Then it slowed to 6 and then finally down to 4 around level 58. I don't remember having such stellar results when leveled fishing on my main years ago.

Every fish you catch by rig can give individual skill up so yes multiskillup is possible on multicatch. At least it was when I was skilling like 1 year ago.

Does amount of TH gear you are wearing increase your chances of increasing additional proc's of TH on a mob? Any testing or testimonials?

all it does is raising initial TH level, AF3+2 hands are supposed to increase procs on Sneak Attack by 10% but that's about it.

Switch TH gear -> hit once -> switch back to TP gear

instead of going on about unimportant information, you could have attempted to answer the question. and last i read (last 2 pages of BG fishing thread) it was determined that using a bot's killfish function rapidly sped up fatigue, stopping you from fishing sooner than 200, but still has absolutely nothing to do with the question

That puddle trick has never worked for me (even during rain weather).
THF + WHM might work depending on how good the healer is (and if they have a refresh set); Blob has some high damage attacks and the babies wipe your shadows, so your healer needs to be fast with cures. It takes 2-3 aeolian edges to wipe the little blobs. Blobdingnag has regain, so you'll get hit with a 800 DMG weaponskill while the blobs are up every once in a while.
It's easier to take three people and have one person knock out the little blobs when they pop. Don't make the mistake of leaving them up -- more will pop with every use of the blob ability.
THF NIN RDM made it an easy fight.

Puddle trick never worked for us either, even in rain. They can overwhelm you if you aren't careful, I had capped evasion and still went down after a while due to disgest + lucky hits. Better to finish them off with aeolian edge. We did THF + THF + RDM. THF+RDM should be ok.
