so after getting my wife a Ukon, I find myself wanting one so i did all my lotto NM's and vnm's, now for my wife we just bought all the pop items for glav and just farmed minh and adze, I'm wondering if doing something similar to that is advisable? or should we cleave/buy pop items?

me and my wife both have a whm mule so that makes 4 toons, we could send the mules to get pop items and build amber to get ki/pop items.

so I guess what im asking is, is it worth the time to build lights? or just go straight for minh and adze and buy the pop items for the rest?

Cleaving should only be considered if you want the Chloris sets as well, in my opinion. Cleaving is going to be slower but usually much more relaxed. If you only want the Ukonvasara then go at it the same way that you did your wife's weapon.

If you do choose to cleave, make friends with a cleaver that's after Chloris and trade pops. I had about three people I was trading pops with the last time I cleaved my way through Glavoid.

Imo building pearl and azure is always worth your time (since that seems to be a part of your question). Michelob is right; if you want it done fastest just go NM to NM with at least either a war or nin and try and tag time boxes along the way (temps do speed things up as well). If you can afford to buy the pop items for the t2s then that will obviously speed things up greatly as well, considering the ukon path is a lot of running otherwise.

For Plucking Wings is MNK/WAR + RDM/BLM sufficient to meet the objectives? I'm curious how hard the boss can hit. MNK has high HP so as long as I keep MNK topped off is there no real dangers? What is the big deal I hear about Manifestation + t4? Do the t4 under Mani hit harder? RDM has above average gear as well as MNK, but no empy. I have access to capped phalanx 2 which I'm sure will be very useful. Is the NM susceptible to Para, slow? Thanks for any help.

Uh, pixies resist magic damage, don't cata them.

Smithing blow/Cosmos/Ultimate are the best atma setups, griffin claw is only for brewing.

My setup that I use for Cata:

Pluto/1int grip/phantom tathlum
Maat's cap/artemis(lazy)/novio/hecate
osode/rse level62 or 87 hands/int+7x2
Federation Army Mantle/sanctuary obi/Sangoma Lappa 6 INT or Denali Kecks 3 MAB/Denali Feet

I don't suppose anyone has found out what the exact mods for cataclysm are yet? Or if there's another stat besides int for it? The int gear available for monk is somewhat... lacking.

About to finish my NIN90 and got a few questions. Best non-magian mainhand Katana till I finished Kannagi? Best possible TP sets inside and outside Abyssea aswell as best possible Jin sets inside and outside assuming every item needed is available.

So you're basically asking how to play nin? Look through the gear threads. Oirandori mainhand/Kamome off hand. The rest isn't hard to figure out (And the 2 main tp sets are pretty small in dmg% difference so it's up to you whether you want to gun for synergy right off the bat or not). Use common sense to figure out your sets; if you come to an impass between pieces post those, not "HOW I PLAY FFXI"

Did mission for friend's mule, doubt he lost any since he still had 7 the next day. If he did, he only lost one and that seems unlikely.

My whm currently has three pieces of AF3+2 (head, body, legs). Should I cast barspells in Blessed Body and Relic Legs, or use my +2 body and legs?

Doesn't the +2 body with Solace surpass Blessed Body anyway?
