    Headphone choices

Need to new headphones, been using some pair I got from Walmart awhile back but they are just falling apart in every way. So was browsing newegg looking at a couple choices, one choice is pretty decent w/ freeshipping , but only 3 reviews (all 5 eggs) which i'm unsure about. I like at least 10 reviews to an item I purchase.

Another pair are these Razer orca, but from the reviews people seem to say sound bleeds out a lot (not a huge deal since I dont listen to much music outside of my computer room in public), but no free shipping has me sad in my pants.

My price range is up to 50-60$. Anyone have more suggestions? Not going for earbuds as they always give me headaches and ear pains. Just looking for something to listen to music on, putting audio to video for my hobby or playing games/fps

Spend more money imo. Hard to find good headphones under $80. If you can spend more, do so. HD555

Those do a number on my ears when they cut into my head sometimes. I'm leaning towards the Ozone right now, saw a few reviews about them being pretty damn good quality for the price. Only marks against them were not very much noise cancellation and a lot of pickup on the mic if you have a lot going on around you (which I don't so not a big deal).

    @Boyiee:

I'd spend more but im on a huge budge right now paying off bills. Only reason i'm even replacing is because these things are falling apart more every day. The earbud started falling off the other night and the right ear loses sound every now and then.

Turtle Beach is a reliable brand. I have had some for a long time now and they have been great.

I'm using Razer Carcharias (sp?) Great sound quality for music and gaming, and great mic voice quality as well. I think they were around $129.

Hmm, only 79.99$ on their site. Might pick them up instead of the Ozone. I like Razer products.

right now this week only, best buy has the X11s for PS3 and 360 for $45. Are those actually worth the price for someone who plays FPS games from time to time?

Also don't see anything that they are 5.1 headsets, if they aren't, i guess it won't be worth it.

best pair of cheap headphones I've used. I wear these 12+ hours a day, never had a problem with them. They are extremely comfortable and very good sound. I'm not an audiophile or anything so these get the job done. You can find them at retail stores, friend who works at bestbuy picked them up for me for 12 bucks.

A headphones/audio sticky would be worthwhile, imo, seeing how often these questions get asked.

Complete gimmick; avoid them like the plague. "Surround" headphones are crappy, overpriced cans with either crappy spacializer software, or with 3-4 crappy little tiny speakers in each ear, which isn't necessary because you only hear in stereo, anyway. Directional sound is entirely in your brain (same reason you don't notice your blind spots or that your peripheral vision isn't in color), and multiple speakers don't help when they're strapped onto your ears in fixed locations. Your best bet is to use good quality stereo cans with a good sound card.

Also, those sets tend to be designed for the eXXXXXXXXtrEmE GaMr crowd and look gaudy as fuck. The "5.1" thing is humorous, as well. Where's the middle speaker and subwoofer??

Thanks for the insight kerb, i still have some old pair of stereo sennheisers, which work incredible with my 5.1 receiver since they have a headphone jack. I guess i'll stick to what i have, better for me cuz those things cost me a bit back then. They served me awesome for IIDX.

Meh, I can tell what direction a spy uncloaked from with my hs1, but I can't when using my normal crappy speakers.

You can do that with any headphones. You can't compare them to speakers, because speakers aren't in a fixed position 2cm away from your eardrums.

AKG's k142HD. there simply is not a better headphone for that price, and they don't require an amp. what kind of music do you listen to anyway? that'll have an impact.
