Reminds me of that one King of the Hill episode with Hank's half-japanese brother who finally got his balls up enough to push through a busy crowd to see his father. Of course, he stopped to apologize to each person he pushed, but it was no less hilarious.
Was definitely good shit.
I like the fact that the new big chief is getting all this attention, but what about the rest of the staff? Can we get an interview with, say, the guy (as if it would be a chick in Japan) who is in charge of lore and the storyline? I'd like to hear about all the limitations and red tape he has to go through to make the content in-game line up "somewhat" with whatever fluff he's inserting into the textual tidbits we read before we run off to slaughter mindless dodos.
I thought this update was about the hot blonde anyway. Does anyone really care what Yoshida has to say when she's in all the pictures?
She is hot as hell; no lie there.
This sounds a lot like the WoW jump mechanic to me, not the ability:
Jump. We've pretty much confirmed it is coming. What further details can we wrestle out of you about it?
Yoshida: All I can say is that we are not emphasising jumping with the jump key as a means to cover vast distances on the map or an element that must be used during battle strategies... I suppose the jump you'd find in general MMOs has a simpler design.
This will be interesting, I wonder how it will be implemented.
From the sound of it, it will make you jump up and down, not to and fro.
^ Maybe they couldn't figure out how to allow you to jump over the terrain problems that you can't walk over right now? I can't think of a FF title that allowed for free jumping since... Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which technically is a FF in title only. Its not like they're pros at this; they've always traditionally left the jumping to Dragoons/Dragon Knights.
Jumping will be pointless until the map is rebuilt with jumping in mind.
That quote, to me, seems like he's just making an unnecessary clarification that jumping will be just simple character jumping and not some sort of teleportation/wormhole/interdimensional/slider/jumper/fast-travel mechanic.
At the very least give us more retainers.
4 retainers across 2 characters and inv trouble, besides having to sell stuff to myself for 1g with the constant looming danger of someone coming along and buying it while I change chars it's a goddamn mess keeping shit organized.
But the fact that there was no delivery system, regardless of whether there was an AH, is ridiculous. It should have been there since alpha and AH should have been there by beta.
I can create more characters for more retainers if I want, it's just between the massive amount of items and their +1s, +2s, and +3s it's absurdly irritating. When I first saw the concept of retainers I thought "oh great they added these guys so we don't have to make mule chars and stay logged in all night to bazaar stuff" then they throw a billion items at you and cap you at 2 retainers.
The 1g thing is so I don't have to throw away money on tax just to transfer items.
ia that sounds excessive. Inventory management is a legitimate aspect of MMO gameplay imo
Sometimes you just have to accept that some of the shit you gather, craft or pick up from mobs is useless and needs to be NPCed or dumped on the market at low enough prices to sell.
The game does need a delivery box though
XI never had the concept of "vendor trash" or "grey loot", so its not surprising that those who play that and this become confused/agitated when they find items they can't seemingly find a good use for.
It also ties into the lack of AH and with it the lack of a price history. It's a chore in and of itself to figure out what you should sell and for how much and what you should NPC/chuck.
In my case it's particularly difficult because I've been leveling every craft but alc and cooking so besides the fact that there are simply way too many items in the game(and their +123s) so many recipes require 3-5 different items that I actually find a use for almost all of the junk I collect.
