One of his eva sets. Im pretty sure Nightfyre knows how to gear him self for whatever situation he is in.
Im pretty sure anyone with half a brain would know to change out one of their weapons for an evasion katana before anything else first.

well, nightfyre may have almost similar gearing concepts as me
prolly 1 full attack gear(26% haste blabla 0 evasion haha but inside abyssea i use nin neck, so thats 7 ._. )
and then a partial eva but maintaining some acc(for me, swap offhand with sekka, use ungar, use nin neck, af+2 5/5 for extra 8 eva, 10 agi, dex and accs but keeping 24% haste)
and then a full eva set(mine is 72 eva 10 eva skill 21% haste)
some people think partial eva set are redundant....and people asked why i use af+2 5/5 + sekka and ungar but not fully eva geared....its like 1/2 gimped and laughed...but like jornna said...we know how to gear ourselves for some situations
How you manage to switch to partial and full eva set when you have boomerang there? You lose TP?
Your partial evasion set have imo no use. Its too weak to evade things you want to evade ( like Adze for example to not get hit by add effect or you dont want to feed TP to some mob ).
Ppl seems to completely ignore the fact that when you evasion tanking you loosing time on casting shadows which means lowering you DPS which means loosing more stats for higher evasion instead of fighting in hybrid set may actually make your DPS higher not lower. If you lower monster accuracy from 40% to 20% by losing 3% haste gear you actually hits more even with lower haste because you need to cast 2 times less the before. Its the same for higher accuracy mobs. IE: casting hit hit casting hit hit with 5% more haste is actually worse dps then casting hit hit hit hit casting hit hit hit hit etc. with 5% less haste.
Hybrid set for evasion tanking is only good when it is enough to floor mob's accuracy (if you eva tanking)
Evasion set I use:
Kannagi/sekka/x/ammo
usu/af3/suppa/brutal
usu/af3/rajas/epona
boxer/twilight/ocelot/af3
That gives 19% haste, 65 evasion, 34 agi and 10 eva skill. I would use boomerang whole fight if I would know I will eva tanking whole fight ( usually you want to eva tanking only for some part of the fight or mob have some breaks in hitting phase ( hate reset/casting/etc) when you can switch for full DD gear for a moment to squeeze some more DPS and then boomerang in macro would make you lose TP ) Further improvements in evasion like waist, ring, earring I would only consider on some really life threatening situation.
I did in a previous post o_o
My hybrid evasion build has 21% haste, 48% DW,15% DA, 3% TA, +58 evasion, +26 agi, +10 evasion skill. and +10 parry skill(lol) I lose 4% haste 2% dw and 3% DA.
wat the, einstein-wannabe didnt ignore me and is talking about me?
lol prolly not anything good
move along
No response from him is better than the responses he generally gives anyways.
Ranger 4-hit build, is it worth it (let's just talk outside abyssea)? Got yoichi about a month ago but I haven't had that much chance to try it out. I'm most interested in keeping my hate down so I figure the less normal hits it takes to get to 100% the better. Obviously I'll be making some compromises but I want to see what people have to say. As far as I calculated, you need 66 Store TP to reach 25/hit. As a SAM/RNG, that means you need 51 in gear then.
Main: Mekki Shakki (5)
Sub: Rose Strap (4)
Head:
Neck:
Ear1: Volley Earring (2)
Ear2:
Body: Loki's Kaftan (7)
Hands: Sylvan Glovelettes +2 (7)
Ring1: Rajas Ring (5)
Ring2:
Back: Sylvan Chlamys (5)
Waist:
Legs: Sylvan Brague +2 (9)
Feet:
This gives a total of 44. I was thinking Oneiros Cest (3) for waist and Gules Leggings +1 (4) to make up the last 7 STP.
The main thing I want to ask is if people think this would be viable. Obviously, the biggest downside is you don't shoot quite as fast and you're very limited in what you can macro for WS and ... on the other hand, a bunch of these pieces have decent +STR on them for WS anyway and you're going to get to 100% TP fast anyway.
You can pre shoot in snap shot and switch to store tp mid way thru. Also hoard isn't a horrible choice to tp in
Goading is an option for waist, and it makes you shoot faster!
Where did I say anything about not using additional evasion in other slots, notably a Sekka +2? The whole idea behind this particular set is to give me a small boost vs low-hitrate mobs where adding more evasion would be pointless while maximizing damage output, I'm obviously not going to use it against something more accurate.
Arthars had it right, I use three evasion sets. 5/5 AF3 is part of my lowest eva set.
AF3+2 body does not give evas, it is only worth using outside where the str/dex/acc/attk/crit help a ton, why are you using it in a "hybrid evas set that keeps a ton of haste"? You lose 5% DW for doing that, why are you doing that?
There is literally NO REASON to ever tp in 5/5 af3+2........unless there's some hidden stat on wearing the body that gives you evas/haste that isn't listed on any wiki/gamer escape/any website/in game tooltip or the set bonus is big enough to outweigh 5% DW(isn't it 2/4/6/8/10% chance to proc per piece?).
You should be using AF1 body, usu body, or 10 evas/3% DW mirke in these type of "hybrid evasion" set ups, not a body that does not benefit you in any way at all for what you're trying to accomplish :/
I'm honestly just completely confused "I want to make a hybrid evasion set that keeps my DD stats high so I'm going to use a body that reduces my damage and doesn't add evasion" ???
Edit: Now if this is an outside set, than yeah I can understand it, since I default to af3+2 body outside all the time.
Anything NOT abyssea (voidwatch, higher level mobs in dyna) you wont be able to use your AF1 body anyways since it offers no Acc.
Hence, why hes using his AF3+2 body in the first place.
Your Mirke isnt giving you any acc.
So, lets see. If you are using AF3+2 head, legs and feet to start, and switch out your body for the acc but then need a little more eva, guess what? you just switched your hands out to af3+2 and oh hey, look at that, you are at 5/5 af3+2![]()
herp derp AF3 body isn't a good DD body
I don't use AF1+1 body even when it would be superior DPS because I progressively reduce TP fed to the mob with each set. TP moves and spells are the biggest threats to a NIN tank most of the time anyway, evasion just keeps my shadows up til the next time they get wiped.
If I wanted more evasion I'd use the next level evasion set, not the eva1 set.
Exactly, it isn't a good DD body inside abyssea at all, it's always inferior(unless we're in a land where everyone has double march and haste i guess, aka 2% of the time..) to AF1 body o_O Are we talking outside or inside? Inside you are giving up a huge damage loss by using the body over af1 body, so you shouldn't be using 5/5 in a "hybrid set"......
I edited my other post before you replied saying if this was outside, then yes af3+2 body is AMAZING
Ok...I'm done arguing at this point. You're pulling that card on me, adding random buffs, adding random classes to the mix, changing things around to make >YOU< look right. Ignoring 95% of my post, and just pointing out something you can nitpick to +1 yourself. Just..no, stop please, thanks. <3
I also edited my post since you took it too literal, and added a "if you're in a situation that happens 2% of the time it will be worse" note.
Let's just agree to disagree and not spam this thread, what you prefer to use, and what I prefer to use or like to use doesn't effect me or you at all, so let's play how we want.
Hes not pulling any card. You said that AF3+2 body is ALWAYS inferior to af1 inside abyssea when no. Its not. If you are getting Haste + marches, af3+2 body is better.
