ear: Until I finish up tp bonus moonshade I use centarius earring for a nice little attack chunk (+10)

body: iga +2 wins by a mile outside, more acc/attack and a flat 5% crit rate

Legs: I use byakko's with crit hit rate +2%, crit hit dmg +3%, attack +4, str +1 (still trying to get agi+ augment on it but no luck yet.) Ambusher's is still a solid option if you have my kind of luck with augments. (took me forever to get a decent byakko's)

Only if you can't get a decent byakko's augment, For shura +1 if you by some miracle can get the +6 or 7 agi stat cap on it then I'd use those outside, but again goodluck and why waste time augments shura+1 when augmented byakko's is better. Also I'd like To reiterate that Ambusher's is still a very good option outside and hard to go wrong with/easy to obtain if you don't already own.

side note about athos set: you need at least 2 pieces to get the 3% crit and a third piece to get another 1% crit rate. I haven't figured it up but I don't think that losing iga +2 and either aug seiryu's kote or relic+2 feet would be better so to me athos isn't really an option.

Level 85-90 WoE weapons are almost universally trash at this point. Even quite a few level 85-90 Empyreans can be tossed in the garbage pile compared to a STR/Atk 99 weapon. That is why the Flame geode prices spiked so hard.

1) Byakko's Don't get Crit Rate on them
2) You can't get 3 Random/Uncommon Augments (Str, Att, Crit Hit Damage) on it. Max is 2 + Forced (Store TP).

Going off a quickly modded Pld sheet with Blu gear (added in Oce/Toci's/Athos/Morrigan's/Moonshade/Whirlwind Dirs/Kacura+2) 90 Almace/Str Shikar CDC > Str/Str Requiescat > Str/Str Vorpal ~ Baud+2/Str CDC. This is just for melee damage however, left target as Pil and food as RCB. I'm not totally sure on Pil's defense however, this assumes it's around 560.

Would 4-hitting with TP bonus GK out damage the standard 5-hit capped gear haste setup? Can 4-hit with capped merits and rose/hagneia/af3+2 head/houyi/brutal/af3+2 body/ogier hands/tyrant/rajas/goading/af3+2 legs/ace feet; you wouldn't have WS gear and be at 18% haste. Would be using shoha and when inside A&O, Apoc, and smiting blow or vv.

I'd like to answer a simpler question first. Given 99 Ukon, will Ukko's or Upheaval do more damage with your FFXIAH gearsets? Tbqh, I get that they're approximately tied. Ukko's leads a little bit on hard content especially if you have extra crit rate from somewhere (like Champion's Tonic/Blood Rage).

Bravura's offensive advantages over Ukon are, as I see them:
1) 488 delay gives 13.2 TP/hit, while 482 delay gives 13 TP/hit. I'd argue that Bravura/Upheaval can be 5-hit because of this (and extra TP from Upheaval), while Ukon/Ukko's does not have the luxury without making pretty major sacrifices.
2) The Acc, as already mentioned
3) Double Damage proc rate does not depend on aftermath, meaning there is no activation time or chance of unenhanced swings.
4) Higher base damage and DPS than Ukon, though the extra STR from Ukon effectively trumps this in all cases.

4+2+1+8+10+4+5+5 + 15 (/SAM) = 54 STP -> 20.3 TP/hit

Upheaval = 4 hits, if you are willing to 2 extra hits connect, then you would need 25 STP during WS to make the x-hit. The only change to your WS set would be Spiral -> Rajas and Pole -> Rose. It looks like an attractive option to me.

I don't know which is better, but the question isn't particularly simple. The answer is also very likely to change as SE continues to release improved STP gear.

With the new Haste +8% belt, it will be fairly easy to 5hit Ukon with Phorcys head and legs along with Ogier hands, but even so, I have the 6hit build still coming in ahead.

Set i used to compare was:

Ukon/rose/___/White Tathlum
Phorcys/Rancor/AF3/Brutal
Armada(stp6 DA3)/Ogier's/Tyrant/Raja
Atheling/8% belt/Phorcys/AF3+2

As for Bravura, you still need to use AF3+2 body to maintain your sTP, but you could change head to Phorycs and use the 8% belt instead of Goading. Using Phorycs legs, Rajas and Brutal with 2 hits landing on Upheaval is enough to maintain 5hit.

Bravura gets the real benefit since it can actually use a true WS+4 5-hit while smashing Upheaval. Whether it's stronger or not, I like the Ukko's smash in that argument though you do suffer pretty heavily in current WS builds for accuracy if the content requires it.

the blade:hi weapon is one of the exceptions, right? It seems to make a huge difference in my ws numbers.

Considering that 99 WoE katana is about even with a STR Arisui mainhand, a 90 Tobi +2 would be very difficult to justify. It would be behind Arisui everywhere except maybe Voidwatch, and even then I can't see it being vastly better.
